My latest water bill after a rate hike:

4800 gallons per month
$70 for water usage only
$160 total after sewer fees, connection fees, meter fees, & some kind of other bullshit fee. This is just too crazy.

This is for a family of 3.

No idea, I logged in to look, and it's done in two-month cycles, average 700 per cycle. Based on the fact that I shower daily, I have to assume my numbers are not gallons.

Just two of us, and the usage alternates between 2000 and 3000 gallons a month (they round to the nearest 1000, strangely). My last bill was $110, and broke down as follows:

Water service: $28
Water consumption: $6
Stormwater: $20
Sewer: $48
Taxes: $8

Seems high to me.

seems high?

That's insane. How many months is that for? That looks like roughly four to five months of water in my house. WTF are you doing with 4800 gallons?

perhaps a large pool. $160 is the total cost of my cable/internet, and i get a bunch of extras, playboy, and 65mbit broadband. a strange easter egg, playboy unlocked a bunch of channels on the cable box, and a bunch more through the ipad app (incl showtimes, the movie channels, tennis...)

Mine doesn't break down the water use and sewer maintenance in the usage.
For a 2 month period I consumed 1,300 cubic feet which is 9,750 gallons. Cost me all of $62.37. That's for 2 months.

3 adults and 1 child in my house (father lives in my basement - his choice, I have 2 empty bedroom upstairs and a main floor office I could have converted if he wanted).

My water bill averages $200 every 3 months. My buddy says my bill is high that he pays only a little more with 3 adults and 2 kids. I'm averaging about 2000 gallons a month by myself. Last month and the month before were only 1400 gallons all the rest since august were over 2000. I couldn't even tell you what I was doing different. My lowest bill was $190 with my highest at $220 so it not like it makes a big difference.

Edit: Thats with sewer, sewer is most of the bill.

700 - 800 gallons. $17 - $20 in water alone, $61 - $64 with sewer/trash included. Single-person household

Two month billing cycle - 8-10 units per cycle (6000-7500 gallons, 3000-3750 per month). Usually costs $30 for water, $70 for sewer, and $10 service fee (thanks Cal Sub Meters!).

Family of three, that comes to 100-125 gallons per day for household, or ~35-40 gallons per person per day.

Last 2 months were 1700 and 1500 gallons for the 2 of us. Cost was $17.55 each month. One month when it was 3000 gallons the cost rose to $18.84. I guess we have cheap water.

Around here in expensive northern NJ when we look at 2 family homes as real estate agents and price stuff out for our clients, the rough estimate for both water and sewer yearly is like $1200

Between 4 and 5 thousand gallons for a family of five, youngest doesn't use much water though. Water portion of the bill is between $45 and $55.

That's probably not good for you. The bacteria that live on your skin form a symbiotic relationship with your body. Kill them off at your own risk.
