That's probably not good for you. The bacteria that live on your skin form a symbiotic relationship with your body. Kill them off at your own risk.

That sounds like something you made up after watching the Discovery Channel. The only thing I've heard is stuff about "stripping natural oils".

Pretty sure showering daily is the norm. I've showered daily for as long as I've been showering. No skin issues here.

I'm not sure about ALL the numbers. but our most recent water bill was $48+ for 2 months. During the summer months, the water bill rises substantially due to garden watering...and increased showering. <pee-yewww!>
Sewer is about $60/month, (billed separately)

I don't have a way to measure how much I use but I don't imagine it's that much. The price is based on number of rooms in the house (which is completely retarded, it should go by number of people) and I pay around $90/mo. It goes up every year, it's ridiculous, really.

I need to start my own corporation like Nestle so I can just get it for free.

Everything on Long Island is a fricken rip-off, except for water. It's dirt cheap - family of four, 22k gallons over the last 3 months and the total bill was $37.88. Over the summer for 3 months including lawn irrigation it never goes above $70 total.

EDIT> I can't believe we use ~244gal/day. I drink from a gallon of bottled water so I can't picture using 244 of those in a day. I would've guessed maybe 100 max.

We pay a flat fee of 19.95 for connection to water/sewer, which includes your first ~2300 gal. Thereafter, it's 3.36/thousand gal water in, $3.40/thousand gal sewer out.

Around 200 gallons a month.
I can't even imagine how any one person can use 50-100 gallons a day.
That's an insane amount of water.

Don't know how much I use, I take the water from one hole in the ground and put it in another hole when I am finished with it.

Just two of us, and the usage alternates between 2000 and 3000 gallons a month (they round to the nearest 1000, strangely). .

Same thing here only the total bill is about $38 a month. Most of it is in fees and taxes with the water only being about $6.

Same, although I add a $7 bag of salt to my water every few months before returning it to the other hole in the ground.

I have been meaning to log the power usage on my well pump, also.

How to use so much? Well the first step was to remove the 0.7 gpm shower heads and replace them with 5 gpm heads. 10 minute shower uses 50 gallons. Anything "low flow" in this house has been replaced with "conservation? lol" versions.

And I thought using the max setting of 1.5 GPM on my cheap shower head was being wasteful and luxurious.
I actually really like my toilet, you could flush a baby with it's max 1.2 gallons.
Cheap and it's a comfortable taller elongated model, I'd recommend it to anyone.
I don't water the yard or really use water for anything else...flush once a day and shower 1.5 times a week on average.

I do the same, but fart in my sleep, so I gain back those important bacteria as they stew under the covers.

Don't know.
I have a well and a septic system, so I guess it's all recycle and reuse

Long showers and baths take up a lot of water. 5-10 minute showers best for conserving water.
Water the lawn at dusk.
Update toilets to 2 flush type option.
Washing machines average @ 40 gallon/cycle. Upgrade to a high efficiency one.

I just took a look at my bill again. We used 13ccf ( 9724 gallons) last month. I though 13ccf was for 2 months but that is actually for one month. We are billed for every two months but I broke it down by month.

Water usage = $70
Water service = $15
Sewer usage = 72
Sewer service = $38
Sewer System Overflow fee = $24 (what kind of BS fee is this?)

Total = $219 per month

If I had cheap water like most of you I would be thrilled.

Current household bills run the following for utilities at my house per month for the last 4 years.

Sewer + Garbage + Recycle + Drainage = $36 from my city

Water = $25-$40 per month at the lowest and highest usages. Can only check the billing at the moment and not the actual rates, but we don't even register on the "graph" of usages compared to others in the area.

Electricity = $120-$250... that $250 one surprised the hell out of me when it happened and it turns out to be a miss "prediction" bill. Electricity is still billed around here at prediction usage levels until they send someone out to read the meter and actual find it. When they do, I'm usually well below the "prediction" rates and I end up with a large credit they spread to the next few bills. Of which also tend to be mis-predicted as well. Annoying they do this shit around here, but they bill on the average it seems. Still it seems to roughly average out to about $150 per month for the year when I see the yearly total.

I still don't understand how people use the amount they do.

Would it be a feasible idea to make a deal with a neighbor to backfeed water into one of our hoses with a garden hose to cut down on all of the fees? All of those fees are just to ridiculous.

Wow and I thought my city was bad... but we'll eventually be there too. It goes up every freaking year.

Would work well in my city since the water is a flat fee, get the house with the least amount of rooms (that's what they base the bill on) to feed all the other houses on the block. I imagine it would be illegal though lol.

It's crossed my mind to do that with hydro actually. You get one house that has a 200 amp service distribute several 60 amp circuits to each house on the same block (no roads in the way, just dig a trench for the feeders) and then everyone just chips in for the bill. Could add solar to the mix too. Everyone has solar panels on their roof feeding a common battery bank. The hydro service would only be to charge the bank at night. I imagine there are probably all sorts of laws against this though. Heck if everyone did just solar it could perhaps generate enough power as a whole for everyone. That is verging on self sufficiency, and that is a huge red flag to governments. They don't like people being self sufficient. It's actually illegal to go off grid in a lot of places.
