tmobile rocks for me. reception isn't as good as AT&T but it's good enough everywhere i need it and my bill is literally cut in half. if you're trying to cut your recurring costs this is the easiest financial decision to make if you live in an area with decent coverage.

I've got a few too many phones that I mess with, this one was a used Xperia Z made for t-mobile specifically. The reception is so much better I couldn't believe it. Tested in a corner of my office that usually only gets -111dbm 1asu signal on my nexus 4 (according to network signal info) and thus puts it at very poor call quality and have to use wifi calling via hangouts.

With the tmobile xperia z I'm getting -116 dbm 22asu of LTE signal (not sure how -116dbm LTE is different from for -111dbm on 3g) but the call quality even with no wifi calling enabled is good and speedtest says I'm getting 8 MBps up and near that down in the house.

It has very good call quality for me but the Xperia Z has some battery drain issue so I might have to put some 3rd party rom or greenify app.

Actually checking the T-Mobile site they show coverage in my area as being "good". Looks like my Note 2 isn't supported though. Maybe I'll do the trial and see how it works.

I'm not well versed on the Note 2 but even an unlocked ATT GSM note 2 won't have as good a reception on tmobile as a tmobile note 2. My fiance tried an ATT note 2. Unless the hardware is the same under the hood and you want to flash the modem.

I think I've spent way to many hours flashing things and might now go with stock phones made for the specific carrier or at least a phone with all the supported bands on the carrier, it makes the user experience much better.

A few years ago I went from Verizon to Tmobile... and right back to Verizon. I just didn't get service with Tmobile anytime I was in a house, or at work, or in a car. Deadspots everywhere. Maybe its better now but a single unlimited Tmobile line is the same $80 Verizon charges me for grandfathered unlimited. With Verizon I feel like I'd have 4G on the moon.

If I had a grandfathered VZW plan for that price I wouldn't even consider switching. That's a pretty good deal.

I've been generally ok from AT&T to T-Mobile switch, (brought my HTC One M8 [Dev Edition] and Lumia 920)though there are slightly more areas with EDGE -- I'm hopeful that once the 2G to LTE conversion is complete sometime this year, I'll be covered.

Though when I'm home, I only have 1 bar, I talked to customer service, they're sending me a LTE Signal Booster for free.

I was paying Sprint $75/mo for crap service. I'm paying TMO $60/mo for actual LTE service.

I switched from Verizon to T-mobile and didn't regret it (NYC area). T-mobile had better speeds and network latency, but building penetration (especially in basements) is something to worry about. But if you have wifi it's no big deal. I'm currently back on Verizon though since the company pays for it... but if I had to foot my own bill I'd be back on T-mobile hands down.

Anyone who switches, either sign up for their test drive or if you have an unlocked GSM phone, sign up for a 2 weeks and pay the prorated price. You need to check if you have coverage of all the places you visit often - home, work, inlaws, parents, cousins, family, dog park .. etc.

Bay Area here . pockets of the East Bay with no coverage, to me not a big deal, either im driving through or only there for a day or so. Bay Area to Tahoe (fine until you're north of Sac). Bay Area to LA (little to none). Bay Area down 101 (little to none) unless you're hitting the bigger cities.

Indoor coverage is terrible, hopefully your market has 700mhz or at least has the spectrum. By year's end, they're supposed to have all edge to LTE, that should help.

Grandfathered unlimited data and they sent me a free wifi calling router. I like them. Just hoping they rollout an update for Nexus 6 to enable wifi calling and VOLTE.

i switched last yr from verizon. very happy. i live in a small city in south west VA and lte is great in and around the city but is lacking once i leave the area. my only complaint is the interstate coverage. granted, it's better when i go back home to the northeast. i think in 2015, the entire interstate system should be covered with lte.

Yep, voice coverage is good. Along 5, there aren't many pockets where you'd feel trapped without voice coverage, moreso if you're not the driver, do not expect to check social media.

My company is located in Culver City, CA. After running a trial test with a few of our drivers, I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile.
The coverage is about the same as what we had with Sprint.
Cost wise, we are saving about $1000 per month on 20 phones.
So far I have had a few billing issues, but their customer service has been very helpful in getting them resolved.

Get a couple of test units and put them on the field, to see how well they work for you.

I brought a Nexus 5, slashed $50 off my bill, and am reasonably covered everywhere I go.

First two simply weren't possible on Verizon. That makes me happy.

I switched a year ago and have not had any trouble. The coverage locally is about exactly the same as AT&T was for me prior to the switch.

I am anxiously awaiting the conversion of all the TMO towers from edge to wideband LTE this year. It should be awesome.

I switched from AT&T to the T-Mobile $30 prepaid plan (100 minutes, 5GB data) about two months ago and I've been very happy with the change. Service is quite good here in Austin, speeds on LTE are about the same as I was getting on AT&T or even higher in some cases. (I brought over my AT&T Galaxy S4.)

I've used Google Voice for a few years already and all my calls are VOIP now with the new Hangouts dialer, so I don't use any of the plan's voice minutes at all. Voice quality with Hangouts seems great on WiFi, LTE, and 3G.

Coverage out in the middle of nowhere is definitely a bit spottier than AT&T, and once in a while I've noticed a drop to EDGE inside large buildings, but nothing I'm not willing to put up with for the price difference. I'm saving easily $60 a month, even though I had a ~23% corporate discount before - easiest choice I ever made since I was looking to cut my expenses anyway.

I switched about 4 months ago. Generally pretty happy. In the beginning I had lots of issues with the transfer and setting up accounts and billing initially but once we got past that, everything has been smooth sailing. Coverage is comparable to what I had under AT&T.
