Error corrected I can do ~120ish using home row. I used to do just index fingers and hit about 100ish wpm, but then in HS we were required to take "keyboarding" class which forced you to do home row crap.

I just started trying to type correctly I'd say about 8 months ago. I used to never type with my pinky finger and very rarely with my ring fingers. Now, I keep my fingers planted on the home row and am pretty used to it now. I'm still a little flimsy with numbers and symbols, causing my hands to wander from the home row / keys at times, but it's a vast improvement over what I used to do, strictly speaking about form, I don't type much faster than I used to.

I type on home row. I use my right thumb for spacing, and my left or right pinky for shifting.

I'm most proficient on Qwerty, but have learned Dvorak. I can't type as fast on Dvorak, but I never put enough time into it. I can hit upwards of 150+wpm on Qwerty.

Traditional typist here, I just need to find the home keys and I can type without looking at the keyboard.

It's funny, I watched a guy typing using just his index fingers the other day. He was fairly proficient but I could have done it a lot faster and he was really stabbing at those keys. I felt like telling him that he didn't need to bang his fingers so hard on the keys but though it probably wouldn't do any good so I didn't say anything.

My left-hand home key is shifted over to D instead of F. Just out of habit. I like it better because I can hit the left shift so much easier. Need it pretty often. I go about 95wpm, "trained" from simply playing text-MUDs back in college. If you don't know what they are, be thankful.

Pretty traditional. Although, I only hit the space bar with my right thumb and never use the right shift or control keys.

Edit: I use the right shift specifically for the question mark. Also, I use my right index finger for the comma and period keys. This typically slows down my typing because it moves my hand from home position.

I never really paid much attention, but now that I'm looking, I keep my fingers in weird places. Left hand is on r-e-w-Caps lock, right hand is on u-i-o-;... No idea, never took keyboarding in school. It works for me though.

I'm curious, do you play any games, particularly first person shooters? I find that I only use my left thumb for the space bar for typing and that has to do with the fact that I only have my left hand on the keyboard and my right on the mouse for games.

I type traditionally. QWERTY FTW. Sometimes my hands get in a funny configuration and I have to reset them into the right position. I think its because I just type so fast.

LOL, interesting. My comments were for standard typing. When playing fps, my left thumb does indeed hit the space bar. I didn't even think of it heeh.

My left hand is on ASD and the right has my small finger on the enter key. I "learned" this setup from FPS games and having to type (never got a mic, don't want one).

They taught me the 'traditional' way in school, but it never stuck. I get confused and have to look at the keys if I use that position; not to mention the significantly reduced speed.

With my way, I use my entires left hand, but for some reason, I rarely use the middle and pinky on the right.

Traditionally since I started learning that way in elementary school. I can type probably 100 WPM or a bit above at best.

I'm "traditional" most of the time, but sometimes for whatever reason I just end up doing some weird style

Originally learned the traditional way. The problem was that my right hand tended to stop using its pinky finger and so my right hand tends to glide around the keyboard now. I can type 140+ wpm though. If I wanted to be error-free, at least 110 wpm.

I use one finger of hand only, but I type at 250+ wpm though.

I learned playing Diablo 1. Only way to talk to people in that game was obviously typing. So then I just learned a lot faster but taught myself the home row method.

I don't use my pinky to type, therefore I type via ASF and JL:. It works well enough for me.

Since over the years, I've broken, jammed, or smashed every finger on both hands at least once, (some multiple times) I can't make all the traditional reaches that are expected for proper typing technique. My ring fingers do double duty, and take care of most of the keys that the pinkie finger is supposed to do. Still, I can type between 60 and 70 wpm error corrected...but my piss-poor technique cost me my "A" in basic keyboarding class...I ended up with a "B" for the class...
If I'm on my laptop however, that speed goes to shit. I can't get past about 30 or so WMP on the laptop....and there's likely to be tons of capitalization errors (caps lock) that I have to fix.
