I have 13 systems, a mix of laptops and desktops. Down from 19 though and they all crunch SETI.

I have three systems, two desktops and a laptop. Right now, the laptop is the only thing that I run constantly since it produces so much heat and it works great for most of the things I do during the day - music, AIM, web browsing, etc. When I want to game, I use my primary desktop but I leave it off when it's not actually in use. The other system is my previous desktop that's actually not hooked up right now but when it is, I use it primarily for downloading things and backups.

I feel almost left out... I only have 2 myself. A current P4 rig, and an older PIII one with Win98SE (for playing the older games that don't work on XP.) I might one of these days be wanting to experiment with Linux, and I'll probably be using my PIII rig for that. Linux should run on a PIII 850 MHz, with 384 megs SDRAM shouldn't it?

basically all older games run off xp. just change the configuration on xp for wut they run.

Wow. To think that I thought that 4 machines running was excessive, now I see that a few of you have had 16+ machines running. Do you have a "Mr. Fusion" household nuclear generator in the backyard or what? The power bill (for the A/C too) must be scary.

I was toying with setting up a smaller, low-powered machiine, with a wireless AP/bridge, and basically make it a small wireless fileserver (psuedo-NAS, in a way). Also having a wireless-connected laptop for a remote-desktop to the main machine. That would bring the number of full-time operating machines to four here.

I know in theory just about any older game should work. Have you ever tried to play Carmageddon 2 on XP? I could never get it to work (even after tinkering with the 'Compatibility mode' setting). Also, NFS5 looks a bit strange on my XP rig (some of the textures are all low-res and naff looking, despite everything being set to highest quality).

4 desktops = 2 gaming, 1 for linux and 1 in garage used as a jukebox(200cds condensed to a 8gigHD) connected to an old receiver. the garage desktop is in a rollaway computer cabinet, i was able to fit everything....monitor,tower,receiver and speakers. i can roll it to my neighbors for parties.

I have three...PCs have become a hobby...an expensive one at that.

I have one for my main stuff & gaming, another for storage (mostly my gf uses it), & another older one just for downloading/uploading/server use.

3 desktops + 1 laptop

A P3-600 in the kids room. P4-1.8 general usage in the living room. P4-2.53g htpc in the theater room. Plus a laptop that gets used for a little bit of everything.

I only have 2 at the moment (desktop + laptop).

when prices come down on 939 chips, though, I'm going to build a new desktop from scratch and move my current box into the living room to use as a media center.

2 PC's - one as my main/gaming system, the other as a video recording/editing station, as well as serving duty as a backup/fileserver, with a 4-drive RAID 5 setup for performance and redundancy. And a laptop.
I would have my Scanner PC running (Pics at my website), but it suffers from an uncurable overheating problem.

At home I have 2 machines. One I use for making webpages. It's set at lower resolution for that purpose.

I've got 7 running plus a laptop. They range from 800Mhz to 2100+ and 2.8Ghz laptop. I'm planning on a S939 when prices come down as well, also a Shuttle PC for the entertainment room and a server. Two of them will be heading out though.
