Another thread today made me wonder how many paid vacation days people get in a year. Over here it's legally mandated - the minimum days an employer can give an employee is 20 (four weeks) for a full time worker. Most people I know either get the legal minimum or legal minimum + 1 week.
I get the legal minimum, 20 days paid leave per year (called "holiday leave" or "annual leave" here). This doesn't include sick days, of which I get another 5 - though most employers I know of are pretty flexible and will continue to pay sick leave as long as its reasonable. It also doesn't include statutory holidays (Christmas, Boxing Day, New Years Day, Easter etc).
