Ummmmm chalk up 2 more tonight...
One was massive congestive heart failure with an insane flash pulmonary edema for the curious medical types initial blood gas before we intubated was: pH 7.15, Bicarb 39, PCO2 112, P02 39, and measured arterial oxygen saturation of 51.3
The other was a old lady on blood thinners(coumadin) like about a 6-7 cm head laceration with arterial involvement....she was squirting blood all over the damn place...lost about 500ccs just in the suction canister...I've never seen that attending sew so fast hehe...nor have I ever put a 16 gauge IV in an old lady so fast in my life....actually that was the first time i've ever put a trauma line in someone that old
