That fence you just mowed down, the living room you just went through when your car left the road, the notebook computer that was destroyed in the car you hit, the luggage that went up in flames when the fuel line ruptured on the car you t-boned.

Lets see, fence/living room covered by their homeowner's insurance, notebook/luggage covered by their automotive insurance. If they don't have any, that's their problem, not mine.

That goes for the rest of you above me, too.

And yea, it's selfish, but so what?

LOL... right. You shouldn't be liable for anything or anyone but yourself, even though you caused it. :disgust:

Hmmm, Ive been in very tight finacial situations before and drivin without insurance. I lost my license for a year when I was 22 for getting in a accident without it. Bummer

That being said, if you cant afford it but need to get to work there are few other options unless public transport is worth a cr@p where you live or its within walking distance.

Where I live (Romania), one must have only coverage for damages produced to others. I've had this almost all the time (once its expiry date slipped by a bit, and I couldn't renew it right away because of problems with the exhaust. So, I was at most two weeks without insurance.
I don't have a full insurance policy - even some of my colleagues took such full insurances only to repair things at their cars (like cracked windshields)

I drove and owned a car when I was 13 and drove till I got my D.L. when I was 18.

I lost 2 cars in that time from getting pulled over but hey that was damn near a 5 year strech, not bad.

I have had insurance every day since 18 ..

If you don't have many assets that can be seized if you are sued then insurance is a complete and total waste of money and a scam for you.

Insurance is not required to drive in NH. When you get pulled over they do not ask for insurance...

The only time I have driven without insurance was when my insurance was canceled and I was not notified that it had been canceled.

I got a ticket recently for not having proof of insurance, which I knew I had put in the car previously, but couldn't find it. But, all they are is a piece of paper you cut out some some printed text on it. How can they accept that as POI considering anyone could print print? Seems I could scribble the info on a piece of paper and it would be the same thing.
Yet I did show him my insurance wallet hard card but that didn't suffice since it didn't have a date on it.

Insurance should not be required by law, it should be optional, and it should ONLY cover your vehicle and vehicle's occupants. If you get into an accident and don't have insurance, you pay out of pocket to fix your car, or you drive a wrecked vehicle. It should also be illegal for an insurance company to raise your premium by the huge percentages they do, or drop you, for a single claim.

Down with insurance laws! Up with reform and optionality!

edit: PS, I do have insurance.

So what if I have no insurance, crash into your house, do $150K worth of structural damage and put you in the hospital for 5 years where you ring up a million or so dollars in medical costs?

edit: Never mind, I see now that you're just trolling.

Of course, the courts could just garnish your wages for the rest of your life.

This is an idiotic statement.

Of course pizza delivery drivers have insurance. In fact, the want ads require it before they'll consider hiring you.

On the other hand, if a professional driver is on the job when he gets into an accident, typically the employer's insurance covers it.

driving without insuance is one of the dumbest things you can do....chances are you wont have a major accident ..but say you do...do you really want to work the rest of your life just to pay off someones medical expenses because it was your fault.

mandatory insurance is bs, but i would never be so stupid to consciously drive without it, nor be so irresponsible to let it lapse
