How many people here work in IT?

I'm curious as to who actually frequents AT forums from the IT world. It seems like we've got an awful lot of you folk here; lots of bitching about users & clueless non-IT bosses

And are you here for the technical side of the forum, or just the ATOT bond? :sun:

I concur. However, very occasionally, I will look info up that I need here. Usually Google is easier to search.

Unfortunately, I've been seriously considering getting into IT. I have about half a year, full-time IT management-type experience. I also happen to have an engineering degree, which helps the management side; no engy experience though, so can't seem to get a first look there. Thinking about getting a cert or two if all else fails.

I work in IT as a software developer but I'm here for the news, lulz, and whatever else OT (mainly) has to offer. I visit the gaming sections and L&R a bit, and check out the Programming section to offer advice and occasionally ask a question.

I actually come here as part of my job to supervise the internet and make sure bad things don't happen. So yeah I guess you could call that IT.

Came to this site originally for the technical help when I built my first pc. Picked the red angry head icon because the problem I was having (random lock ups of the pc in windows) was so frustrating to troubleshoot. I did eventually get pointed in the right direction thanks to AT. Eventually I stumbled upon the hillarity that is the OT forum. Once they started the Garage forum I started lurking that too and giving advice where I could.
As it turns out I did work in IT after graduating college 2 years after joining this site. I have since ended up in a management role with IT type responsibilities attached to it. I manage the AutoCAD drafting department for money company and have since become a sort of coordinator/administrator for our GIS data. All after starting here five years ago as a humble programmer analyst.
If you had told me five years ago I'd be doing what I am today, I never would have believed you.

I am in IS (Information Solutions), who creates IT solutions, manages the IT projects and basically has to be the bad guy when a tech person tells an operations person why that cannot have a corporate iPhone.

I work in IT. I am the Senior IT person on the IT Operations side. So I have gone as far as I can on the technical side at the current company that I work for and don't have any plans to leave. I have no interest in trying the management route. Tried it and didn't like it. I started out in 1999 at the current company that I work for as a Desktop temp and I have worked myself up to working on the big toys. I still love my job something new every day and get to play with cool toys. Also IT Management very much leaves me alone as long as I produce results, which I do. So I can sit here and listen to XMradio with my headphones and get things done and I don't have to deal much with desktop users anymore.
