Okay so we have a coffee sabotager here at work whom like to cap off the filter with coffee (10+ scoops to 10-12 cups)

Me along with 4 other officemates agree 3-4 scoops is plenty, we posted a sign stating how much to use, but some little bastard keeps doing it to us.

We've narrowed it down to 2 people, but it could be both of them...

How many do you prefer and have any of you ever came across one of these coffee bean eating activists?

Wow, what a fantastic waste of coffee grounds and horrible coffee.

Take all the coffee grounds to your desk and lock them up. If someone wants coffee, they can tell you and you can do it. Better yet, pre-measure coffee scoops into those little snack-size ziplock baggies. When they come to you for coffee, give them one pre-measured ziplock bag containing 3-4 scoops of coffee grounds and a filter.

Scoops that come with coffee grounds are pretty much the same size within a very reasonable amount of difference.

the scoop is like a little more than a "large" table spoon scoop.

The coffee is supplied by us, yea works cheap. So there is an undocumented purchase...meaning someone will just bring some in, so keeping it at MY desk unless I brought it in wouldn?t be the thing to do.

Send out a memo saying that who ever is doing it is ruining coffee for everyone else and that if they wish to drink coffee with 10 scoops, to bring in their own personal coffee maker? I dunno. Slap them. HARD.

I'm just thankful that the coffee comes in little bags at work. 1 filter, 1 bag, 1 pitcher of water up to the impossible to miss line.

I can't make coffee at home. I don't know how many scoops or how much water..

Wow - that seems like some strong coffee.

I usually put about one tablespoon per cup. Some of the store-brand coffee reccomends one tablespoon per 6 ounces of water.

It really depends on personal preference though. Anytime we get new coffee I have to tweak the amount I add until I find what I like. My roomate works at a coffee shop and is always bringing beans home for us.

my last container of coffee stated on the label to use one tablespoon per cup..
so, I usually round out my tablespoons depending on the strength of the blend I'm drinking..

So, I think it is generally 1 tablespoon per cup .. a cup of coffee defined as 6 oz

If the coffee can't float a horseshoe, then it is not strong enough.

Right now, I am drinking coffee made with 3 scoops of Folgers to 6 1/2 on the coffee pot's scale.

I use less when I grind Starbuck's coffee.

3-4 scoops is too little for 12 cups. Keep some hot water on the side to dilute to taste.

I just grind beans and make the filter about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way filled up to the top.
I usually like very strong coffee, however, 10-12 scoops sounds a bit excessive. In terms of scoops ... I'd probably lean towards 6 being MY optimal number.

Just get your own little coffee maker for your desk and use the work's coffee. then you don't have to worry about it and can make it exactly how you want.

We have a coffee machine wher eyou just push the button and it pours it for you. But I don't drink coffee.

depends on the quality of the grind/bean but one must use enough per cup or else you overextract the grounds and that gives you bad coffee. its not worth it to stretch grounds out, might as well not drink coffee at all in that case. common mistake of brewing.

that and the mini-maker seem like the best solution.

edit: in general, i think people hate it when they see signs up in the office. can come off as passive-aggressive. if you have narrowed it down to two people, talk to them. come up with a solution.
as dumb as it sounds, bring it up at lunch or when you are all together and work something out.
