How many speeding tickets have you had in your lifetime?

I got one speeding ticket once when I was in college and it was enough to make me realize that speeding wasn't worth it.

I usually get those Safety Citation "In recognition of your personal contribution to safe driving.... Four Years without a moving traffic violation"

I've had quite a few speeding tickets in my lifetime between being a courier in NYC and riding big sport bikes BUT (no famous last words!) its been a long time since my last one... long as in at least 15 years.

Last ticket of any kind I got of any kind was an illegal turn on red about 5 years ago. (beat it successfully)

Heck with speeding tickets, I have trouble even coming up with times I've been pulled over.

I got a fix it ticket in California for having tinting on my front windows. Cop told me to pull it off and he'd rip up the ticket, which I did and he did.

I got pulled over for burned out tail lights twice, got a warning each time. Got pulled over for leaving my gas cap off once, got a warning. Lastly, got pulled over for turning right on red at an intersection with posted no right turn on red sign. Explained to the cop that I didn't see the sign, I've gone through that intersection hundreds of times, I live right down the street. It was night out, the sign was hard to see and had just been installed a day or two prior. He gave me a warning and told me of another intersection at which no turning on red was now permitted and let me go on my way.

I got one back in the mid 80's, and bought a radar detector soon after. No tickets since, but I'm on my third radar detector.

Michigan state troopers won't really do much unless you're doing over 80 in a 70 (or 85 in a 55 near Detroit) and most local cops aren't any stricter. So only 1 speeding ticket

I tend to always drive above the speed limit, usually by <5mph, unless I'm on the highway where I drive about 15mph over (as does nearly everyone else.)

I used to drive I-84 around six times per year (from MA to CT visiting my parents), and the cops do hide in the most inconvenient places... But I've never been pulled over on it.

It's the New York section between CT and PA where they try to get you. Lots of small towns on that highway that use the tolls as a revenue source.

I've had a total of 4 and the last one was over 20 years ago. 3 of those 4 tickets were received before I turned 21, and all of them were from highway driving (never been ticketed in a city for speeding).

FWIW, I got verbal warnings like candy when I drove taxi. I'd get pulled over but it was never for weaving in traffic or being a dangerous nuisance. I'd get pulled over for doing 60-70mph in (an empty) 45mph zone at 4am with nobody else around, etc.

I think I've gotten somewhere around 4-5 tickets in my lifespan, but hard to think back.

103 in a 65 (car)
50 in a 35 (motorcycle)

I haven't gotten a ticket in probably 10+ years since I got rid of my "more fun" vehicles.

I've probably been pulled over upwards of 15 times. I was very stupid in high school and got pulled over a lot but miraculously received very few tickets.

I've received 3 and strangely they were all in one year. Never had any before or since. I beat one of them in court so I guess that technically makes it only 2.

I did speed a lot in my youth, but I think mostly past the age of 24 I rarely do more than 10 over the speed limit, unless that's just how traffic is flowing.
I've been pulled over a bunch of times in total though, but never gotten anything other than a fix-it ticket, or warning.

This is something that crossed my mind, too. I haven't been driving too often for the past decade or so, despite putting a lot of miles in between the age of 18 and my early 30s. Obviously won't get pulled over or ticketed if you never drive, heh.

Hadn't gotten a speeding ticket in so so long I can't remember but I got one last year in NYC. I was driving on 2nd Ave near the UN headquarters. The speed limit in NYC is 25mph. But over there is the 2nd ave tunnel - so you go into a tunnel where there are no pedestrians, no bikes, no oncoming traffic and no cross street traffic so naturally it's natural to just speed up briefly and it's really not endangering anyone. Of course there was a speed trap at the other end. Just dickhead cops doing dickhead things when they could actually be doing their jobs, which does involve pulling people over, just on actual streets where people are put in danger. One reason people think policing can be done better.

When I drove taxi, speedtraps were always reported to dispatch by drivers, and then word was spread over the CB about "picturetakers" and the intersection or block they were trapping.

It was almost always the same 3 or 4 spots, and all of them in the same quadrant or section of the city. The traps had less to do with safety, and everything to do with revenue generation.

I'm pretty sure I'm over a million miles now as well with a few more tickets. I redid the math and it costs me less than ten cents a day to drive as fast as I want.
