Okay I don't understand some of these response. Right now I only have a few games on my hard drive (500gb) and I only have 10 gb of free space left. This is only a FEW games so I don't know how you guys are able to manage with all of your games?

If you want I can list all the games I have installed right now and you will see why 500 GB is far too little.

Sounds like you need to diagnose why your HDD is so full. Look for temp files, volume shadow copies, restore points, hibernate file, etc.

I'm not familiar with those. I plan on rebooting my computer completely once I get my netbook so that I will always have internet access, but for now I need the weather the storm.

Here are all the games I have install on my hard drive as off right now:

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
The Walking Dead Season 1
The Witcher 3
Lego Harry Potter - Years 1-4
NBA 2k12
Neverwinter Night Diamond Edition
Batman Arkham Origin
Batman Arkham City GOTY
Dragon Age Inquisition
Dragon Age II
Dragon Age Origin Ultimate Edition
Warframe
Cities: Skylines
Counter Strike Global Offensive
Bulletstorm
Crazy Taxi
Dead Space 2
DiRT
Crysis 2
Civilization V
Dark Souls
XCOM: Enemy Within
XCOM: Enemy Unknown plus all DLC
Baldur's Gate 2 Complete

As you can see it only a few games.

And your HDD is 500GB? Why, exactly, were you talking about "more than 18TB" in your original post? I'm not quite following.

Other than that, that doesn't seem like too many games. Try downloading WinDirStat, it'll give you a nice visual map of what's using up the space on your drive.

Computer I just have a SSD for OS and programs. Server, I have 19TB between 3 raid arrays. I tend to expand the arrays as I need the space.

Code:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
                       53G 180M 50G 1% /home
/dev/md0 5.4T 4.5T 705G 87% /volumes/raid1 (raid 10)
/dev/md1 6.3T 4.2T 1.8T 71% /volumes/raid2 (raid 5)
/dev/md3 7.2T 939G 5.9T 14% /volumes/raid3 (raid 10)

Hard drives are getting cheap again though, so I'm tempted to add more drives, but really, I don't NEED more space yet so going to hold off. raid1 is pushing it though, that's a raid 10 with 4 3TB drives, so I will probably add 2 more 3TB drives soon which will give me about 2.7TB of actual space.

3TB in puter.
Does the 25 TB of mixed individual 1-2TB drives stacked next to it count?
I need to get a dock, Having and using single sata cable hanging out the front of the case is kinda hokey.

0.5TB SSD boot disk
2TB HDD
1TB HDD
plus 1TB x 2 RAID backup (normally disconnected from system)
plus 1TB backup (normally disconnected from system)
plus 1TB rugged portable HDD

The big pigs are music and pics. I've really got more space than I need but having the redundancy is nice.

Am addicted to Steam games:

Soon to be 4 x 3 TB Seagate's in RAID 0, ~70% assigned usable area (short stroking the array)

computer - 1TB SSD
NAS - 20TB raid10
OFFSITE BACKUP - 20TB raid10

My NAS is just storage for PC's at home, and it syncs down with crashplan. Let's my siblings use it for some offsite storage too.

I'm on the low end at 5tb for storage and 240gig for OS. Some of you guys have crazy amounts of storage. What do you use it for?

My server storage is for movies, software, personal data, pc backups, etc. Everything backs up to Crashplan. Not currently using anywhere near the full 29TB, even with duplication.

I have about 4 full TB worth of content, backed up at my mother's house off-site. It's all MD5 hashed and gets checked yearly. So far no bit rot or anything like that.

HD video, digital photos and scanned slides/negatives. I am a big believer in multiple backups so I need about four or five times the hard drive space of the actual data. It adds up fast.

Same here. Most of it is video but also a lot of scanned docs and backups. I'm kind of a pack rat so I digitize whatever I can and get rid of the physical material.
