I'm glad somebody wrote "must-pay" because at first I thought the OP was experiencing a seizure or something.
For me:
Rent: 750 (shitty little 650 sq ft apartment, oregon sucks)
Electric: 105 (again, oregon sucks)
Water AND sewage: 55 (yes, in oregon they actually charge you for everything they intend to just take right back and reprocess anyway. The only way I could screw them is if I peed on the lawn or something. Fuck, even california didnt charge me to give them their water back.)
Gasoline: Lets not even discuss that.
Insurance: Split up a months cost is about 106. Interestingly thats about triple what I was paying in the peoples republic of california.
Groceries (I have to eat, its a must-pay): about 200 a month. Again, oregon.
I cant say I really liked it when the Navy stuck me in California. But after I got used to it I wasnt too mad. When I left to take a civilian job in Oregon I honestly thought I was moving to paradise. For some strange reason everyone who lives up here thinks it is. I guess we all have different versions of paradise.
Of course, the fact that most people I meet have never gone more than 50 miles from home in their entire lives might mean something.
EDIT: Own my car, no credit debt.
Of course, I'm unemployed right now and was only making 15 bucks an hour before so I wasnt doing great anyway.
