how much AS5?

Hello peeps
I'm the noob who spilt AS5 on the gold contacts of my core2. I took everyone's advices and now my system is up and running!
Anyways, I was just curious how much AS5 you have to put on your CPU? What happens, if you didn't apply enough or too much?
For me, I just put a little bit (like a pearl?) and spread it with a paper to create a really thin line. I'm getting better temp(34-38 idle, my room is AC-less,HOT) and was wondering if that's OK or should apply more AS5 before I close the case and set up on my desk.

You want just enough AS5 to cover the die. If your worried that you didnt apply enough you can take it off and look at the indent that the core will make in the AS5. Most people apply WAY too much AS5. In the future I probally wouldn't use paper in the future since some of the paper fibers might pull off and get stuck in the thermal compound.

as easy as puting a dot of as5 the size of a rice grain and put the heat sink on. all done. And wow. you put as5 on the pins?? I still dont understand how some one does that. If you dont know how to put it on then go on there website. its right on the tube. next time look for instructions or ask here if you dont know how to do somthing.

As little as possible. 34-38 sounds about right. Let it run for while so the AS5 fuses the heatsink w/ the CPU and you're all set.

that is how you should do it. To much will also hinder preformance as will to little.

personally i use artic ceramiqe and prefer it over the AS5. for a 1 degree performance loss you gain non-conductivity so even if you do spill it won't do any harm.

Very thin layer of AS5 just on the CPU's heat spreader. Start off with a dab about the size of a grain of rice and spread it around with something like a matchbook cover or credit card type thingamabobule.

Yeah it's a long story and will prolly never happen again. lol. It's working fine now tho. So if my system is running at 34-38 idle, i shouldn't worry about it then. ?
