Just wondering...cuz I'm graduating from college. Want to get a gauge.

I was wondering...are there any ChemE's out there? That is my major and I'd like to know what range is 'normal.'

Got offered $68,000 in SoCal with a company I want to work for (Fluor)
Also got offered $65,000 to work for a different company in SoCal that I think would be fun to work for (Northrup)

~40k. I believe that is below average for an engineer though, but the upside is that I get to commute from home.

<~ Still on his first Job after graduating from Berkeley in 06.

53K as an engineer. The cost of living is absurdly low however. (I only pay $250 a month to live in a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, 3 story townhouse with 2 other people). I also get amazing benefits (5 weeks vacation, 12 holidays, great insurance, tuition discount for graduate work, etc...)

$26k/yr doing web design, now I'm making a little over $31k/yr doing application development. I've only been at this current job for about 5 weeks. The median income for a household here is just under $30k/yr though.

They all look pretty reasonable to me looking at the degrees associated with them.

(graduated in 2000) I had an offer for $34k to work 3x12's right out of college doing the same thing that I was interning for at $13 an hour. Another prospect in a different part of the state came through and I took that one for $36k a year. I worked the first one for 3 weeks before quitting.

A couple months after working the job at $36k I told them that I was really underpaid for the work and did my research on what I should be making and got bumped up to $42k.

So in a matter of about 3 months of graduating I went from $34k to $36k to $42k.

Computer science degree doing some desktop support/admin stuff in the midwest.

Right now I'd be lucky to pull those same salaries right out of school doing the same work.

Another thing; you say you are graduating from college. I hope this isnt your first or only resource for researching starting salaries.

Just wait, these threads never fail to degenerate into stupid arguments and bragging.
