I just got my latest pay stub and my federal taxes went up as a percentage of income. I'll have to see what happens next month to see if maybe the new withholding rates haven't kicked in yet.

My health insurance premiums went up 9.4%. Thanks Trump.

I have a big spreadsheet for this. Overall I am getting about $1K per month benefit right now. Primarily because I rent. If I owned a house, it would be about a wash due to loss of property tax deduction, since state income tax would eat all of my $10K cap. After the low introductory 2018 vote buying rates expire but deductions stay capped to pay for permanent corporate tax cuts, I will be about $300 worse off per month if renting, and about $1.2K per month worse off if I buy a house in CA.

I think what they forgot is California republican strongholds like orange county are coming for the blood of those who voted for this thing.

Dems won OC in 2016. Sounds like the Trump tax plan scored a direct hit on the $100-250k urban progressives who always say they would be willing to pay higher taxes.

and the rural districts that can no longer write off fires as a natural disaster while the gulf states can keep hurricanes? Those gop stronghold voted against their constituents interests and they will pay for it.

also dems won the presidential bid in oc during 2016 but that is a strong hold of republican congresscritter. They will get killed.

So it's not a tax cut?

No. It was a tax bill to punish the productive sections of the country for not being conservative. They know this This better be the first thing we unravel when we get control again.

Very confusing with the sales pitch saying how great all this tax cutting would be

Oh so you were insincere when you said you’d gladly pay higher taxes. Shocker.

No. try again.

Also tell me why wild fires aren't tax deductible anymore and why republicans in those districts expect a easy pass after this last fire season? They got cucked by a national republican party that just wanted to punish California.

The thing that pisses me off the most about this Trump tax is the timing of it. We don't make enough money to benefit from it now with our current incomes but we certainly do stand to get wrecked when the ball drops and they expire....

For us it's a double edged sword. On the one hand I am at least happy to be forewarned that when they expire we will be screwed so I can change the way we have been saving to mitigate the damage especially if they reduce SS benefits in the future.

This was supposed to be the time in our lives we planned to finally start doing a little travelling that we have been holding off on for many years while raising a family. Now that our kids are all grown and after saving up a little we had real plans to take budget trips to different parts of the world we have always wanted to visit. Those plans are on hold until either brains somehow prevail and adults roll this bs back in the future or until 2027 rolls around and we can reassess... We have our health and the money now. Not sure that will be the case in 10 years...

I've built my life to live on 60% of my take home. I hope that will give me the flex to cope with whatever the republicans try to do to me.

At a 1.5 trillion deficit spending receipt, which is essentially being handed to the already wealthy....on the behalf of the middle class, GFY.

I’ll mark that as a yes for insincerity. So basically “I’m willing to pay a tiny amount more taxes if and only if the rich are taxed way more first and it all goes to pay for social welfare programs of the type I want.”

I'll gladly pay higher taxes when Mitt pays higher taxes. Oh, wait... that's not what happened.

Didn't take long to get proven correct.

You are surprised people support the tax system we've had for the last 100 years? You aren't as smart as you think you are. Now go on and tell us how you prefer a flat tax system that really isn't a flat tax system.

Lol

Pay higher taxes for what? Health care for tens of millions under Democrats, cutting taxes for corporations under Republicans.

Well golly, if you aren't for paying higher taxes now for programs the current majority party wants to cut then that makes you a hypocrite!

Retard logic, aka righty logic, aka both sides, aka libertarian magic

So, the Party of fiscal responsibility craters out the Treasury for $1.5T in gratuitous tax cuts for their uber wealthy donors but I'm the hypocrite?

They also sprinkled a little powdered sugar on that turd & greedy fools go for it every time. Go ahead- chow down.

Republicans are going to regret raising taxes on California. Al lot of middle class liberals are going to be priced out of Cali and move to their states. Look at Virginia and Colorado. North Carolina, Texas, etc, could follow.

$lol, $85 every two weeks is sizeable?

You know what's funny. I have a buddy whose a multi-millionaire. He told me a few years ago "do you know the difference between you and me? You were conditioned to think small. Much smaller That's why you make $70k a year, while I make $70k a month."

When I heard that I'm like you're crazy. But, after talking to my family and friends, and reading post from middle class folk it all makes sense. We are conditioned to think small. That's why companies can give a $2k bonus and average middle class people go nuts.

Not this shit again. Let me know when you make your first million.

Also. I wouldn't get out of bed for 70k a year.
