Well, I work help desk now. It goes between surfing the net for hours and helping idiots use computers. I don't really like it, but I need to do it to land a decent internship.

I'm burnt out from my job...Evevrybody comes up to me and says I have the best job in the world but they only see the good parts. I have to deal with drunks,idiots,incompetent employees and crazy women and quite a few other things....And crazy women!

It does have its good moments and perks but alot of headaches to go along with them.

I like it, its not exactly what I want to do but the pay and benefits are good. I've only been here a little over 6 months so the initial excitement from dumping my last turd pile job hasn't worn off yet either. I'm just happy to not be surrounded by incompetent blowhards.

On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give my underachieving due to ending up in this profession a 9.5.

i love my job, i answered the "absolutely love my work! there's nothing else i'd imagine myself doing!". i really do love my job, i get to make giant motors spin, program things that could be up to 30 miles away over a radio, and play with money. big money. not one day is the same for me, even tho i do the same basic thing for every customer i have. i have no underlings to worry about, and i have no one above me but the vice pres of the company. i also wear the IT hat, coordinate all the graphic design for the company, and help decide new technology purchases. times like this when im posting here, im actually working on another computer installing software or waiting for compiles. im salary, get to work a regular schedule and have occasional travel. sure, i love my job. i have seniority, been with the company since it started (actually 2 years before when it was owned by someone else), have pretty much freedom to do my job anyway i can find to do it, and i get paid for research time for new products/ tech. i even get paid well. cant go wrong with that

I am out of here though as soon as I pass the CPA exam which is in about 6 months.

like the job but hate my co-workers... our bes serve crashes, locks and fails to deliver messages on time 4-5 times a week.. requiring daily reboot..

he says there is nothing wrong with it and refuse to build another server..

i rebuild 4 of his servers and they haven't crashed yet...

You need an option for "I like my job enough that I couldn't see myself happier doing anything else". I don't 'absolutely love' the work, but it pays the bills and it's a better job than I'd expect to find anywhere else.
