Maybe, maybe not. I do have the cheaper option with AT&T DSL but the max speed I can get is 3/1. And since 95% of my TV watching is done through internet streaming, that's a poor choice. So realistically, even if Charter charged me $100 a month, I have to bend over and take it.

Internet speed is about 25 Mbps download, 6 Mbps upload. I have NEVER seen that speed bump from Comcrap everyone talks about. I guess it was only for Denver. I even asked and the guy said did you reset your modem and I did.

I live in a mid size city in the Southern part US and I was paying $20 for 6 Mb for naked DSL (no phone) but the price went up to $36 recently. Just upgrade to U verse 12 Mb for $40 a month.

Shared 100Mb at a colo: ~$16K/yr along with some complicated billing system for how much I burst or something like that

100Mb (~80D ~10U IRL) fiber at apartment 1: ~$1200/yr includes TV & phone

2x load-balanced 100Mb (about the same I think) fiber at apartment 2: ~$1200/yr includes phone (excludes router)

'business lite' 100Mb at office 2: ~$900/yr (usually way slower than that but I don't care)

200Mb 1:1 contention fiber at home 1 (>190U/D): ~$25K/yr
