Comcast
100/?
Capped
$80/mo

I'm probably going to increase the speed. Was watching Bumblebee 4k uhd streaming from Vudu, and it paused to load a few times. Never happened when I was on one of their packages with cable bundled. I think speeds at that time was 150 but my bill with cable bundled was $235.

I disconnected/cancelled my Comcast and before they could even disconnect my internet I called back the next day and signed up under my wife's name. All of a sudden we qualified as a new customer

If they want to play games then play games back.
I no more wife ... (still looking for her). I don't normally play those switcheroo games. Did submit an alternate email addy on a first order 15% discount coupon a few days ago to get a 2nd. I did feel guilty, they don't look like a big time online retailer. With Comcast I'd feel a lot better, however I've never done business with them. Don't how I could nick Sonic.net, but I have thought a few times I should call them, ask to talk to a supervisor and DEMAND a free month, GODDAMIT! It's kinda demoralizing what's gone on with this phantom upgrade I keep hearing about.

According to my Comcrap bill which is unintelligible to the casual observer and changes by the millisecond I pay 49.95 for Blast. 75 down and 10 up but lucky to get 25 and 2. Some discount is figured in there somehow.

Well hell - even if you have a good enough friend you can probably just sign up under their name. They aren't going to ask for proof that the person lives there.

But protip: Just like with Comcast... If you call and ask them to negotiate your bill you will be directed to some rep in India (offshore) or something along those lines. If you call and say "I want to cancel my service" you will be directed to a US customer service retention rep. That tells you something. They will do everything to retain you... they will do anything to gain you as a customer... but outside of that? Ehhhh fuck you. Here is an offshore guy you can have fun talking to.

comcast
$68.85 after taxes/whatnot (i own my modem). no bundle.
up to 150 down. no idea up.
1 TB cap
i connect the tv to xfinity wifi (neighbor's modem) which is good enough for 1080p streaming and doesn't count against the cap.

CenturyLink
20 down, 2ish up
no cap
$90/month (no competition though it is coming)

Price includes a landline with unlimited long distance which we barely use but it required for DSL.

Do the youth of today even know that we used to pay for long distance phone calls by minute based on distance?

Like, $45 ... for 1.8 mbps downstream DSL at work.

Same for 3 mbps downstream DSL at home. Just copper lines which could support as much as 10 mbps if available.

Currently on a comcast business account. Its $79 a month for 75MB down and 15MB up. No cap.

Probably going to move to ATT Fiber. Its $90 got 1GB down and up with no cap. Right now it's $70 for the first year.

I would go ask @aigomorla about that, before declaring "no cap". Apparently, in the contract (according to his posts prior), they DO cap, only that it's not currently enforced. Make of that what you will.

I'm theoretically "uncapped" with FIOS, but apparently, some of the heaviest bandwidth users (one guy was running a speedtest server on his FIOS connection), will, eventually, get "the letter". Currently, somewhere between 12-18TB/mo, I guess, is the "soft" limit. I've done maybe 2-3TB at most one month, seeding some new distros. Just to stress-test my connection and router, mostly.

Thanks for the feedback. I think, at most, I've used probably 1-2TB a month under heavy usage. I'm just going on what AT&T told me, so I haven't seen the fine print yet. Theoretically, I should be OK. I'll have to PM him about that. Appreciate it!

One good thing about my ISP, sonic.net, is that they don't offshore their support. AFAIK, they are all local Americans and in Santa Rosa, CA.

Other than my ISP, my experience with customer support isn't pleasant, more often than not. TBH, I am so so sick of the CSRs I get seems like 80+% of the time, and I seem to make 3-4 such calls a week. That 80+% absolutely come off as ESL's. I suppose it's because they can't afford to hire native English speakers when they get a fairly high proportion of callers who don't speak decent English. Are all these people multi-lingual? Maybe not, or maybe their native language is little called for but they're hired simply because they will do it a lot cheaper than Americans. I don't want to come off as a xenophobe, but I find many if not most of those calls quite frustrating because I can't communicate effectively with the CSR's. Part of the problem is maybe my phone setup, but I think today's phone systems (beyond mine) are a lot more problematical than they used to be. There are far more glitches, and a lot of simply bad audio. Then there's the quirky accents these people talk with and their lack of decent English communication skills, to put a curt label on it. I always pray when calling for support that I will get someone who has good English and a reasonably good attitude and knows what they are doing. It happens, but it's not typically what I get.

read the fine print.
I dont know if they changed the contact since i last saw, but they did meter, just never enforced a cap if you were on the gigafiber.

Also make sure they dont throttle you after XGB.
ATT is notorious for throttling you after you hit a certain amount of data.

Spectrum
960/60
Uncapped
$99.99 a month, includes taxes, modem etc.

Pretty happy with it, it's actually cheaper than the 400/30 I had previously from them. That also had extra "modem rental fees" added on.

how did you get 60 up?
the only thing holding me back from 400/20 is the fact they wont give me anymore upstream even at 900.

That is so not fair.... i want more upstream.
