Like $45 + $10 modem rental. Last month it was that plus $25 cause there's a bandwidth (?) limit, and "we" went over because of the Steam sales; got Bioshock 2, Thief Deadly Shadows, Armed Assault plus expansion which totalled an assload over the limit.

Used to pay $38 for 3 Mb.

I am so envy at some of you that are paying cheap prices with 20 Mb or higher.

I think new york city has different plans then some other places. The rated speed is 35/35. I'm in a bundle with digital voice, the ultimate hd with all the movie channels, and the internet so im not sure what the exact price of just the internet is.

I just noticed that my connection just got upgraded for free to 5mb and I pay about $40. It's not volume based (AKA unlimited downloads). Pretty good I'd say considering I'm in Pakistan. I'm just curious to what others pay for their connections in different parts of the world, especially in neighboring countries like India.

Wow. Its damn cheap in Pakistan. My bro in India pays about $30 for a 512 Kb, yes Kb, connection. 3 years back when I was in India I paid the same for a 256 Kb connection. These prices are in Hyderabad, one of the major metros of the country.

In the US I pay $45 for a 12 Mb down, no cap connection.

i get 6 mb ($40)from att in my condo in the financial district of san francisco and 3mb ($35) at my home in danville ca. i dont have contracts. i think they just made 6mb available at my house which is pretty unbelievable given that its in the bay area. i got 1.5mb in 1998 and its taken them 12 years to quadruple that????

does anyone else in the bay area know how to get faster speeds without getting comcast??

My experience is that the South Bay gets upgrades very early. Not as early ast he rest of the nation, but relatively early. Everything hits us first though in the Bay. I went to school in Berkeley, and I maintained Comcast there for 3 years. We were 6 months - 1 year behind the 3=>4mbps upgrade. Then the 4mbps=>6mbps upgrade we were behind too. My gf just graduated in June and I don't believe I've ever gotten 12mbps at her place. While signal levels were fine, I think congestion is just terrible or something. We even called a Comcast Tech to come out and look at it and he just said that it was congestion. Meh. I've had similar experiences with my friends in the city. I can only get about 6mbps on their connections.

In 1998 I thought it was 3mbps. At least that's what I remember. Supposedly 128kbps up, but they never really capped it for us. I got 1mbps up at least. They finally capped it like a year later or something. And then the AT&T fiasco with @Home resulted in us getting 1.5mbps connection in like 2001. Totally raped. 1.5/128kbps. The upload was at like 128kbps for the longest time til I graduated from high school in 04 while download slowly got to 3mbps.

$40 a month of 3G clear internet. 2Mb up, 1Mb down at the moment. It's really reliable as opposed to comcast, and about $20 cheaper. I also have seen consistent 6mb (800kb-1.1MB) downloads on a regular basis. The uploads seems really fast though.

20Mb down, 10Mb up for $55 even a month, no cap or restrictions. It's all fiber but from a company called isomedia. My entire neighborhood is wired and my house (bought new a few years ago) came with ethernet jacks in all rooms of the house leading to a central switch. Kinda nice to not have to do it all myself.
