I'd say 10-15 is cool. ALTHOUGH, I can't see myself paying that much for a haircut, but women wouldn't understand why their guy bought a $200 reel, or a $345 video card

Why in the hell would anyone spend $95 on a haircut? I have not paid one red cent for a haircut, in over 5 years. My wife does it for me, or I do it for myself, using an electric razor and a #2 guard.

There's a difference... A $200 reel or $345 video card has a discernable difference in quality... the same really can't be said for a $95 haircut, except when compared to a haircut where someone did a horrible job.

i am sure she had more than a haircut.... there must be extras like high-lights, perm, straightening, manucure... the list can go on

no just the haircut.

the guy who cut her hair is the creative director at one of the top salons in the d.c area. He also does fashion week in NY.

That shouldn't matter. What should be factored into the price is the act of cutting the hair and what would be a reasonable price not who cuts the hair and with whom they are with.

Then again it's all about supply and demand so.....

LOL, I laugh so hard when I read that line. I will keep that in mind when it is time to settle down and get married.

About the OP, I can't belive someone would spend that much for a hair cut and it will last only a month or two.

For the people that said they cut their own hair and saved some money, how could you cut your own hair and get good result?

My mother-in-law paid some ridiculous amount (over $100) for her haircut and she HATES it. Her husband paid $80 for a typical male haircut that can be done entirely with clippers, figure that one out.

What those women get for their 95 bucks is the opportunity to say "so and so cut my hair" and to get pampered. It's not really the cut that costs. It's the atmosphere and the bragging and feeling smug that they paid for.

I figure I've saved between $1500 and $2000 since I've been married by having my wife cut my hair. Too bad I don't have a jar to put that money into each time... she could get a really nice gift for herself with the money.

You might as well just slap the barber in the face.

But we don't know what kind of haircut he is getting.

If it is a buzz, then its not exactly difficult for the barber (nor does it take long). A 1$ tip seems fitting in that situtation.

Why is that? Is there some law that governs tipping? WTF is wrong with people in this country that everyone expects to get tipped for doing their job?
Not sure how it is where you are, but most barbers/beauticians/hair stylists around here "rent" their station, and basically get 1/2 of their daily take. Some variations of that of course, but the more they cut, the more they make...While I'm not adverst to tipping when a cutter does a great job without having to "nit-pick" the way it was cut, (you missed some long hairs here, or it's not even there, etc) a tip (to me) is a way of saying "thanks, you did a great job".
I'm not beholden to any food server to tip if I believe the service is sub-standard either, but that's another thread...

After your first incredibly unclever post I thought maybe you'd reread it and realize that it flowed about as well as an immigrant's English and never decide to post again. Then you post something like this, not only posting AGAIN in the first place, but in the same thread even. I really hope that people are never just randomly generous and courteous to you but only do such things when forced or compensated to do so.

You tip the help, not the "creative director." At that price the "tip" is already included. Gee, next time I buy a car I think I'll tip the car salesman.

whaa, whaa, whaa...don't know what you do for your living, but I wouldn't mind it if a customer tipped me every time I did my job. Of course, I do make a good hourly wage, but wtf, TIP ME YOU CHEAP BSTARD!
