Uhh, stop whining. I know a lot of guys get what? $8 cuts? $9 cuts? some $10 cuts?

I get $20 cuts. It's just a cut, but the place I go to is damn good and well worth the premium. I tip $2 or so. Yea. Anyways.

You are probably right. However, most likely I would never want to have any kind of relationship with such a woman.

I thought tipping was to compensate for low wages?

How long did the haircut take ? If it was like 30 min. I would not tip a dime.

I always figured tipping was a way to show you appreciate the work they did. But ya, a 95 dollar haircut only is just freakin stupid. I dont care if the Pope cuts my hair, 95 dollars just so someone can cut your hair is insane.

So you're suppoed to tip the people at Wal-mart or 7-11? People make career choices, and it's not up to the consumer to make up the difference in wages between "service jobs" and other types of employment. YES, I do tip waiter/waitresses, but only if I think the service was good or better. Poor service rates a poor or no tip...however, I don't do it because they get paid crappy, I do it because they did a good job. YES, my wife tips her hair cutters, and I usually tip a buck or 2 MAX, but then again, when I got my hair cut, it was usually a $10 cut...

They cost a lot more than men's haircuts.

i am sure she had more than a haircut.... there must be extras like high-lights, perm, straightening, manucure... the list can go on

no just the haircut.

the guy who cut her hair is the creative director at one of the top salons in the d.c area. He also does fashion week in NY.

like he even needs a tip then. she probably insulted him by giving a tip

For what it's worth:

Salon Tipping
(Peggy Post head of the Emily Post Institute)
If the owner cuts your hair, you're off the hook, right? Wrong. Turns out most salon owners welcome gratuities. "Not tipping the owner is an old tradition that's dying out," Post says. She recommends 15 to 20 percent of the fee, whether or not the stylist owns the place. When more than one person (stylist, colorist, blower) attends to you, split 15 to 20 percent among them according to how much each contributed to the outcome. A basic shampoo and conditioning rates $1 to $3; a wash involving foil removal and color rinses requires a bit more. Slip 15 to 20 percent each to a masseuse and a manicurist.

I usually tip 10$ on a 35$ hair cut...

Then again, I get a shampoo/scalp massage out of it as well.

figures that most people on this thread don't understand that women's haircuts are A LOT more expensive than a men's hair cut, since most of them have never had a fvcking girl in their life.

I'd say $10 or $15 is a good tip.

Oh and by the way, I wouldn't pay $95 for a haircut if it was George muther f'in Bush cutting my hair...

50 I think I would. Those 20 minutes usually involve me daydreaming or being bored, but 20 minutes of staring at a pair of tits in your face... Worth 50?

You can go to the local strip club for cheaper than 50

eh, for me it's like $10 on a $60 cut.

Recently, I went with my girlfriend to some new salon in boston and tipped $20 on 90 (the both of us combined).

I never bothered to split between stylists and the people that wash your hair, etc -- hope it doesn't make for disgruntled employees.

and the reason i get such relatively expensive cuts is because at the shop i regularly visit, the girls literally give you a massage for half an hour while they're shampooing/conditioning your hair. then you get sent back again after the cut, and they're at it again. could i find better things to do with an hour? sure, but why would i pass up a cute girl with experienced hands working at my scalp?

Salon owners like free money?! Well holy sh|t! What a huge surprise.

Thank god I'm male. My wife cuts my hair with a buzzer I bought at walmart for $20. And I can cut my own toenails thank you very much.

The only time I ever tipped on a haircut in my life was this one girl who would regularly cut my hair in Brazil. She was so gorgeous, and would take an hour to cut my hair. She would wash my hair 3 times per haircut, once at the beginning, a random time in the middle (for no reason other than to do it) and once at the end. Each time she'd wash my hair she'd give me a 5 minute head massage, including some pretty erotic ear massage action. Man it was so hot. The haircut itself was only 5 brazilian dollars...which is like $2 american dollars. I'd usually give her $15 brazilian dollars (like $5 american dollars). I've never had a better haircut in my life.

Now I get my haircut with a ton of coupons I have at sportsclips. I think the haircuts are normally like 15 bucks, I don't pay a dime, get a crappy half-assed haircut from some ugly girl, and tipping is the last thing on my mind.
