How much does CAS matter?

I'm buying a few parts, and memory's most expensive. Does anyone have some numbers on exactly how fast a system (around XP 2000+) with CAS 2 memory is compared with CAS2.5? How about DDR2700 and DDR 2100? Thanks.

cas2(using quality name brand modules..) is more oc'able and if your mobo is 333 or higher you will be better off with pc2700 to start with..when it comes to memory quality 1st(nothing like random errors to set you on the path of corruption of your data..) oopz..hopefully the pr0n crew won't be snide on this

The difference in a xp2000 is minimal to be honest - it makes more of a differeence in slower machines.

I raised my Sandra scores by 20% compared to stock speeds. Overall system speed upped about 5%.
On my Shuttle AK31A there were about 7 RAM timing parameters, which I adjusted, so it's not just the CAS.

It ran very well for a year and then --- BAM --- dead. Crucial lifetime warranty though.

Personally I would rather purchase DDR 2700 cas3 over 2100 cas2, it is actually faster in most cases.
