what causes gas prices to vary so much from state to state, i know sales tax and gasoline tax is part of the cause, but what else causes it vary so much?
Why does gas cost different in some states? There are two major reasons. One is the differences in state taxes. Some states have higher taxes than the others. But an example between states California and Kansas, in California during the summer months they have to use what they call reformulated gasoline, which is a higher cost fuel than what is required here in Kansas.
