How much faster is an ssd then a raptor?

Hey forum, I currently have a 74gb raptor drive for my windows and pc games.

My question is as follows, I know that the ssd is supposed to be a lot faster then the raptor. But practically, what real world difference would I see? Would everything just load a little faster? Or would everything I do feel snappier?

+1, especially loading the OS from cold boot. One of the bigger moments of the computing experience you'll have with SSDs

Considering than a new 7200RPM drive is about as fast as your Raptor, I'd say that an SSD will be about an order of magnitude faster.

RPM isn't the only thing that effects speed. Cache, Platter density, many things do. Why is the 10k Velociraptor faster than a raptor? Tech advances fast my friend.

BTW, an SSD will also be very quiet.. I hate how loud my VRaptor is...

Agrees with everything mentioned so far. The transition from that 74gb to an agility was amazing for me.

My old 74GB Raptor has slighty better seek-times than my Samsung F3 1TB, but overall the Raptor is no faster, while being hotter and noiser. SSD seek-times are in another league - as mfenn says "an order of magnitude".

That Raptor is really old and has been eclipsed by several generations of Raptors/VelociRaptors, let alone 7200RPM drives.
