How much faster will a Kryo 1 be than my current Voodoo 3?

It's just because my parents have to buy a new video card and that was the cheapest I could get. And they really don't want to spend a penny more. So now, I could swap it with my current Voodoo 3. Would I notice a performance improvement?

Yeah, you will notice a speed improvement. At worst it will perform like the Voodoo3 anyway, at best it will be around the GF2MX mark.
You really shouldn't loose out. There may be the odd game problem though, it should all be fixed in time.

Why don't you get a Radeon LE or Kyro 2, and put your Voodoo 3 in your parents' machine ?

If you want a cheap all around card you could consider a Radeon LE. Should be faster than a Kyro I and Geforce2 MX in most situations.

I live in Switzerland, and the Radeon LE isn't available in Switzerland. I'm not sure if the card is available in europe....

I thought, it would just be a exchange, they wouldn't notice, and belive me, I'm not ripping them off... I spent endless hours explaining them how to save a picture from the browser to the harddisk I just thought if they _have_ to buy a new video card, and they would get the cheapest, it's not unfair if I exchange the card

It's not a great deal faster but you should get a generally small performance boost over a V3 3500.
It won't perform as well as the GF2 MX however, or the Radeon LE.

Its not a lot faster, but you will get to know 32bits colors in games.
You might want to check on the 2D quality (if it important to you before swapping).
And I hope you don't have a lot of glide based games.

The Kyro1 offers about the same level of performance as a GF2 MX, but both cards are outperformed by the Radeon LE (which is usually cheaper as well).

Saw a few benchmarks where the Kyro I was romping all over the GeForce MX. Was funny as I dont even remember hearing about it even being worthwhile. And if its beating a MX it should have been a bit more popular on the low end.

well, according to the anandtech benchmarks,iIt outperforms the geforce2 mx in 32 bit colour by a little, but performs worse against it in 16 bit colout

lol, Dude how can you be screwing your Parents over like that? Seriously? If you want to save them money, go get them a freaking $10.00 4meg vga card or somthing. From the sounds of it they will never play a REAL game on that thing.
