Horsepower: 150
Torque: 215
carb'd early 80s small displacement v8? maybe an I6?
160something iirc

Sounds like a car mah parents had. GM, 5L V8, slowest car ever made.carb'd early 80s small displacement v8? maybe an I6?

lol. Yeah that sounds about right. They could sure haul shit though. I've seen lots of people pull fibreglass boats with them. This little small block was supposed to produce anywhere from 150hp to 165hp depending on who you asked or what you read. Judging by the mid 9-second stopwatch-timed 0-60 runs after the engine woke up in late 1987, I would be inclined to believe the higher number, although many other Parisiennes had trouble getting numbers under 11 seconds.

Curious why they would put such a strange engine in a car. High torque low power is something you'd expect to find in a pickup truck...

Very few takers on the torque argument? Seriously? Having felt torque, I much prefer it over some arbitrary made up number...
I wonder if people in Europe read this forum and are just blown away by some of the things people in North America say. In North America, it's standard practice to have a V6 or V8 with a minimum of 250HP, and we're shocked when a car with less power can do things like go up a hill. Look at the kinds of car people like Neckbeard need to deal with:I seem to be doing fine with my little 163 hp engine for my Mazda 3. Honestly I haven't run into a situation where I have needed more, and have never had an issue going up hills, etc. even with the car loaded with 4 people.
Hey I'm working on it, I'm down to ~3500. Tubular front K member and A arms will be another 70 lbs then I need to rape my wallet for an aluminum block and take off another 100 lbs... Ironically I'm not doing it for weight (the tubular K) but because it's higher quality stuff with more clearance and less flexy/noisy
What's worse is the guys like me who only have 132. I need to hardcore tailgate you on the highway if I want to pass because high speed acceleration is that bad. If I had a 400HP car, I would stay 20 car lengths back and still be able to pass you in less than 5 seconds. More power = safer :thumbsup:163 HP is fine until someone next to you is being a jerk specifically because he has 164 HP...

edit
I think my point was that it looks like people in small cars are assholes but the tailgating is so we can pass you.
With someone like you, less power is safer. I'm thinking lawn tractor level.
I drive a 1996 Base Mustang
V6
Do you know what happens then? I'm on the highway going 60mph because it's the lawn tractor's max speed. The car behind me is a corolla and he can't pass because he doesn't have enough power to pass. The car behind that is a Camry I4 and he can't pass either because he doesn't have enough power to pass 2 cars at the same time, and he can't pass the corolla because the corolla is tailgating my tractor. The car behind that is a Subaru WRX who can't pass because he can't pass 3 cars at once. So now the entire highway is going a pathetic 60mph because of my lawn tractor
Every summer in Canada is like that. There will be an RV going slow because it's an RV, tailgated by a small car like a corolla or fiesta, than those two cars together completely stop all passing and it causes bumper to bumper highway traffic.
