You have to want to live in Atlanta and by the prices of things in Atlanta it would appear there is not much demand and therefore I can conclude that not many want to live there.

Its hot, it snows, its miserable, you have a shitload of crime, urban sprawl is horrible, its in the South, its not close to the ocean, jobs pay shit, traffic is horrible - shall I go on?

unless you're really into the bar/club thing and want a place in walking distance to bring different chicks back to every night, I'll never understand the appeal in getting assraped in Hoboken rent. Grove Street/JSQ in JC are both decent neighborhoods (Grove Street especially is on the verge of becoming a gay ghetto), only a few minutes longer to get into NYC, and at like 1/3 the price.

but at least your ass will be nice and loose for property taxes what my parents pay in property tax alone on their 3BR house is comparable to the rent on a 2BR in the same area, and that's not even touching mortgage/misc upkeep expenses.

For the moment, ~$650 / month, not including utilities (it does include garbage service though). ~2400 sq ft, 4 bed / 2 bath house on 6.5 acres, with a separate single-bay garage.

My parents just bought a new place, so they're renting the old place to me for just the cost of taxes + insurance. When I can afford it (I'm 25 now, hopefully in a few years), I'll be buying it off of them. The house does need some renovation, so we're trying to get together to get it all done in the mean time.
