There is no "should" for age 35. Push yourself professionally, but even more importantly, repeatedly push yourself personally and confront your weaknesses then give it a few years and see where you end up.
I never dreamed I'd do better than a jack of all trades Systems Admin when I was in my mid-20s. My days consisted of hiding in my cube, getting my duties taken care of, and waiting to go home. Now I work as a pre-sales engineer for a storage company, relish getting to talk in front of crowds, actively take on tasks or initiate ones no one asked me to, and have vastly grown my professional and personal network. When I was 35 and stood back to marvel at what I had achieved, the amount of money I was making and job satisfaction I had (overall, didn't particularly like my job at that time but knew I had created a wealth of opportunities for myself) it was leaps and bounds beyond what I had thought possible 10 years prior, even 4 years prior. I've continued to push myself and love who I've become and continue to evolve towards and now as I stare down age 39 later this month I am again making leaps and bounds beyond what I thought was possible at age 35. To put that in perspective, in my 13 years since graduating college at age 26, my yearly pay since starting my first job as a Systems Admin has increased by an AVERAGE of 21% per year. No way that can keep up with where I sit now, but it's mind boggling to think about.
Never be satisfied with who you are, don't let yourself get too comfortable, and push yourself to grow as a human being.
