How much more would 939 Cost over 754?

Im going to buy a new PC late August / early September. I want 939, but I hear the mobos, and chips will be very overpriced. Will they still be overpriced by then? I was hoping to get something like this, but now im not to sure based on how expensive everything will be:

X800 XT PE / 6800 Ultra (PCI- EXPRESS)
A64 3500
Mobo that supports 939, DDR2, PCI -Express

Any ideas?

Prices should settle down by then on the 939 chips, but there will not be DDR2 for the Athlon 64 for a long time, the chip doesn't need it. Those high end graphics cards will still cost you a fortune though.

I thought there was only like a 30 dollar difference somewhere in there either the mobos or the chips. I know this review said that the highest 754 isn't worth it since it's exactly the same as the base 939. Still expensive though for 3400+ and above. Also if you are considering 754, game performance doesn't get better with 3700/3800(?).

In 3 months you should be able to get a Socket 939 nForce 3 250Gb board for a decent price.

I mean, you can already get that ASUS A8V Deluxe Socket 939 board for $168, and that thing comes with GB Lan, onboard SATA, an additional onboard Promise SATA RAID, and a Wi-Fi card for some reason.

It's not like Socket 754 ever got all that mainstream, and next year Socket 939 is going to be the thing to get, but I wouldn't worry about PCI-Express or DDR2. AGP 8X is going to be the main standard for quite awhile still, and it'll be awhile before you want to restrict yourself to PCI-Express. I could be wrong, but I don't think we're going to see any benchmarks with a PCI-Express card blowing away an AGP card anytime soon.

939 boards are already reasonably priced (considering features and how new they are). CPU's are still in the +$400 range.

I'm expecting / hoping for prices to come down by the end of the summer. That's when I plan on doing all my upgrading, at any rate.
