How much of a raise would make you jump ship to another company?

Personally, other factors would need to come into play before jumping ship to another company besides money.

you were offered more then double your salary and you turned it down because you "like" your job?! seriously i don't understand how some of you make your decisions....

all things being equal (i.e same kind of work/responisbility) you are one crazy asshole. if the market can bear that salary for you and your skill set then your current company is underpaying a hell of a lot. i would only do something like that if i was extremely wealthy

I think he meant 40% more.

No, I meant 140%. from 9.50 an hour (I think that's what it was, it may have been more. I left at $11 something) to $25. Ameesh, money isn't everything like Klin said. If I got paid 9.50 an hour to browse the internet and $25 to shovel snow for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, would you think it was worth it?

If you don't like your job, find another. UInless the amount you get paid makes up for it in what you do on the weekend.

Depends on a lot things. From my experience, if people are getting that kind of a bump in pay, it's also a huge bump in hours too. Instead of making $60k at 40 hours a week, they make $90k doing 65 hours a week. Your per hour income actually drops.

my work is chill, easy schedule, great benefits, overtime.

I figure i could probably get another ~10K elsewhere, but not worth losing the other pluses.

I don't think I can realistically get substantially more money on actual hours of work.

None, one because I love my job, two because I've only been working here 2 months and it would look terrible to jump ship...it's a small world in CS.

I took a 20% pay cut when I took my current job. But then again I went from being a "contractor" to being a salaried employee.

It was worth the paycut to not spend 3 hours a day commuting. (although I do miss my audiobook time)

To get me to leave my current company, not only would you have to pay me substantially more, it'd also have to be in a good location. I also have a private office where I work now... it's nice.

Half of my pay is based on performance, people I work with/for are cool, and my job is relatively easy with no take home and good benifits. I would need 15-20K guaranteed to switch

Not much, probably another $2k-$3k would do the trick...but it would have to have much better working conditions thatn what I already have...which isn't much, I get a toliet break every now and then...thats about it.

Lifestyle has lots of say in my world. I would rather earn a good living, while having a great work environment, and time for family, than go work for more money, have less time, and a lower quality work environment. I've moved to lesser paying jobs, in the past, just to have time for family.

Money is seldom a consideration for me, unless it's the ONLY variable (in which case you obviously take the most you can get).

Keeping the same profession, there's only one place in my local region that I would change to. That would be a 30% increase. This includes factoring in the cost of travel.

Now changing professions, I probably would require a 40% - 50% increase. I also would have to be pretty sure I would like it.

For the most part I like what I do.
