I am building a machine with a 1.2 Ghz Athlon, A7V133 motherboard with 512 mb PC-133 ram and a Geforce 3, also will have about 4 or 5 PCI cards. How much Wattage will I need for my power supply?
Yep, 350-400w will last you board life plus upgrades for awhile. Hopefully we will start getting pc manufacturers to figure ways to increase tech, but decrease pwr consumption.
Nuclear??
The real problem with a nuclear reactor in a computer is [1] it isn't small enough, and [2] even if it were think about how much money you would have to spend cooling the damn thing just to keep it running. Also I don't know if I want a Johnny Knoxville esque kid with a friggin NUCLEAR REACTOR in his computer.... All in all it just sounds like a recipe for diaster.
i read an article that was concerned with increasing clock speeds which are in the microwave spectrum.... hence possible cancer? but i doubt a small computer chip could do that much damage.
who knows, 1.5GHz monsters with just 90W heat radiation can radiate many other "interesting" things... cell's have 0.9GHz with ~2W... and long term expose... grrr
