How much should I charge?

My parents friend need a favor from me.
They are opening a couple of nail places, and they want me to create a simple customer management database. Probly in access. How much should I charge for it?
$300 , $600?
I have no clue how much I should charge, please give an comment.

You should incluse maintenance fees if they ever need you to help with it.

I stopped doing this kind of crap for people. You usually get screwed in the end, unless you do it for free and can just walk away from it.

Charge 750 for the programming. Include with that installation and 2 hours a month of support. Charge 25/hr for additional support. That is still much much cheaper than what they would pay for a "proffessional." If you think you can get it charge $1k that is still a very fair and low price.

The info I got from you guys are very helpful.
A couple more. Hehe.
Because of my very limited computer knowledge, I will be doing this in Access.
(I have no clue what the rates are) but if I can get $750 for it that would be great. I just want to be sure to state that I am not MAKING A NEW PROGRAM for them. &quot;I wish I do indeed have that ability&quot; Thanks for the reply.
