No, that little stuff doesn't show up on carpet, you can vacuum once or twice a week, and it looks great. With wood floors EVERYTHING shows up. They look great if you like to spend everyday sweeping.
I'd have to disagree. When you vacuum a carpet, you don't get everything that has already seeped into it. Have you ever pulled up old ass carpet? Holy christ. Hardwood is much better in the long run IMO.
To the OP:
Have you checked out cork flooring yet? I guess it's supposed to be good for when you're standing a long time (in the kitchen cooking, etc.), and it won't get as cold as tile or wood in the winter. I don't think it's that expensive either. My uncle is putting it into his new kitchen this coming summer and he told me about it. I'd check it out. Just a thought.

With practice it would take you 10 minutes or less per day to sweep the floor with a floor sweeper, and a good job of vaccuming weekiy of 2500 sqf carpet would surely take more than an hour.
I love wood floor becasue there is less dust in the house compare to carpet.
