How much UV water dye is enough?

Okay I got my Waterchill up and running, and I hooked up a dual CCFL UV light I picked up from Frozencpu.com. I then opened up a brand new bottle of Blue UV dye, also from frozencpu.com.

I added a few drops of the dye into the resevior, and it turned the water blue (slightly glowing). I mean it was glowing, but not as much as I thought after 3 drops. So I add 3 more drops, and it's glowing a bit more, but not as much as I want it to glow.

So....I'm thinking, maybe i should just pour in half the bottle...right? Dye shouldn't affect the water cooling properties. Is this safe, and will it turn out okay?

It's not going to screw up the cooling properties, but I've noticed that adding too much dye seems to hasten the discoloration of the tubing which eventually is coated in a film of gunk. Can't see it glow well through the goo. I've used up to a third of a bottle but won't do that again. Using a little more is fine, but too much is not always better.

I pre-mixed a gallon jug of fluid, mostly distilled water. I then added a few ounces of water wetter. With all that I only added a few capfuls of UV dye. I just held up a UV light to the jug, and stopped adding when I thought the color looked right. If you add too much, it does discolor the tubing, and then it just looks like crap.

Depending on what the concentration level of the Dye is 3 drops can be enough. I know most of the dye I work with is Ultra concentrate and using about 5 drops in a watercooling system is 'full' brightness.

Than again if its watered down, 50 drops may need to be had =\.

Try filling up a 2 liter soda bottle and go in a dark room with UV lights turned on. Put drop by drop and shake in between drops. Check where it is the brightest than if you can re-fill ur Wcing system.

I don't think you need much water wetter to be effective... maybe only a percent or two of the total. The UV dye I had was VERY concentrated... much more and it would stain my tubing.
