Up to 33 days paid vacation, plus the week between Xmas and New Year's, and a bunch of other misc holidays, plus up to 6 months of sick leave. Working for a University rocks!

24 days which is almost five weeks
What kind of school system did you go through. 24 days is little short of five weeks. To answer your question. As much time as I can afford away from the office without my dept going to sh@t.

I'm guessing he meant workweeks (Mon-Fri). 24 days is one day short of 5 workweeks.
I get about 20 days/year. I have 0 saved right now, because I often have to use them to take care of school stuff. :|

I have almost ten work weeks of vacation time saved up. I use a bit of it now and then, but I am saving it up to cash out when I quit and return to school full time.

Ok Makes sense, Oh I wish I had a standard 5 day work week or at least two days off a week.

Oh, you mean from work.

I am not working right now. Last summer I got paid in place of vacation time. So never had any and don't have any now.

I've been technically on vacation since April, though.

My bank has everything rolled into one "pool" of days which we call PTO (paid time off) this includes sick time and vacation.

So if you are sick less often, you get more vacation.

Having been there for nearly 8 years, I think I get 22 business days a year of PTO.

2 weeks a year, but I rolled over one day from last year so I have 11 paid days off this year.

Our company starts you at 4 hrs vacation every 2 weeks (roughly 13 days if you are working 8 hr days which most of the company is not) along with the same amount for sick leave. Currently I'm getting 20 days vacation with a fair amount of comp time and the standard 13 days sick leave.

The real question is how much time you do have saved up? I'm almost capped out. I have 5 weeks of vacation right now with another 1 week of comp time and a month and a half of sick leave. I have to take 2 weeks of vacation before the end of the year or I will lose it.

24 days is close enough to 5 weeks vacation not to argue over

It dependes on how long you have worked for the company.

<5 years - 2 weeks
5-10 years - 3 weeks
10-20 years - 4 weeks
20-30 years - 5 weeks
>30 years - 6 weeks.

We also get one floating holiday to use at any time.

You can carry over 2 weeks of vacation into the next year. Under special circumstances you can carry over more if work requirements prevent you from taking your normal vacation.

This year I have the normal 5 weeks of vacation for having worked over 20 years. I carried over two weeks of normal vacation from last year. I also carried over two weeks of special vacation because a project we were working on was high priority and I didn't get to take off my normal fall and Christmas weeks of vacation.

So I have 9 weeks of vacation I could take this year. I've managed to take off two weeks. I'll carry over two weeks for next year and since there are only 5 months left in the year I'm going to be having a lot of four day work weeks.

I wish I could pool unused sick days into vacation. In 20 years I've probably used only about two weeks of sick leave.

I get 20 days per year plus a bunch of holidays that most non-federal employees don't get (MLK, President's Day, etc).

1 week plus all of the major holidays. My employer also gives us a little bonus for thanksgiving and x-mas (usually $50-$100).
