As a newbie, you should know wattage rating is not the best measure of a power supply.

As long as you buy a good quality PSU, with at least 80% of its rated power available on the 12V rails then 350W should be enough for non-OCing. If you want to OC, then I would go for 400W+

Generally PSUs that come with cases, especially if the Case/PSU combo is cheap, are not a PSU you would really want to run your computer with.

You will know if the PSU has at least 80% of its power available for 12V by looking at the label, or a general breakdown of the rails.

There may be more than 1 12V rail and you generally cannot add the values together, but hopefully there will be a listing of the max combined rating for 12V power. It is usually rated in Amperes and Watts =Amperes * Volts so for example if you have a 350W PSU and it has 25A available for 12V power then it has 300W available for 12V power and 300/350=.857 or 85.7% of its power available for 12V.

i see.. means i'll have to buy 3rd party psu..
1. btw, for oc, is 400 or 450 or 500 sufficient? (i never do OC but wanna give it a try.., and i am almost clueless about oc's power consumption.)

2. if i just oc the cpu, and if oc both the cpu n gpu, will it make difference in the powes supply needed?

thx for the quick reply

Yes OCing can make the computer pull a considerable amount more power than a non-OCed computer. OCing both CPU and graphics of course will make if pull more.

Both of those PSUs are fine, the Silverstone is the best though. If you are in the US though, you can get the Corsair VX550 for $90, which is better than both of those.

12V1 and 12V2 mean that the 12V source has been split into two different outputs. It is done for safety, in case a short circuit or some suck load tries to pull too much current from a single wire...which could melt the insulation and cause a fire. As I said earlier though, 99% of the time you cannot add 12V1 and 12V2 together to determine the entire 12V power.

Need 500w-600w

Will you ever go SLI or Crossfire Dual Video Cards in the next 3-4 years???

Then you may want to spend $30-$40 more and get a 750w-850+ watts for future expansion.

Did you even look at the chosen video card?

A good quality 400W+ PSU is plenty, including OCing and even 2 HD4670. Antec Earthwatts, Corsair or Seasonic would be good choices.

hm, so do u think with 400W or 500W, it's enough for this rig? and how long will the psu last in good condition?

Your system won't use 250W even OCed, so 400-500W is plenty. BFG LS450 and Corsair VX450 both have a 5 year warranty.
