How much would the E6700 price drop in December?

Hi,

I'm wanting to build a new computer and decided on the E6700 as my new processor. Just wanted to know how much the price would drop by early December. Trying to decide if I should buy it now thinking the price wouldn't drop much. Any help is greatly appreciated.

From my point of view that is a very hard question to answer...

Considering,
A) Kentsfield will be coming out around that time so the Core 2 Duo's could drop in price
B) Thats holiday season so they could just keep the price the same to gouge people and then drop right after Christmas

I would bet they will drop atleast $50 though...

I think they'll come down some but how much is the unknown. And we wont know till we see it happen.

Reasons to see prices drop:
1)Quad core launches in October
2)Supply increases by December
3)Intel wants more market share
4)Intel wants to kick AMD some more while its down so it drops prices even further

Reasons to see prices rise:
1)Supply short and demand high
2)Intel gets greedy for profits
3)Quad core gets delayed or sucks in general use and gaming


You can probably add other things to either list but I'm more optimistic prices will come down as long as supply can be maintained.

Are you running water? If not you won't get 4Ghz stable very easily with reasonable temps.
