I suppose this is one of those "not taxes" that you love to pay over there.

You pay to park on a public street, you pay to a company to park on a street that you pay taxes to use...

LOL, Americanos, locos... /Manuel, craaaaaazy, they are craaaaaazy

If you’re compiling stats, put me down as $3 per 20 min in the UCLA area.
10/10 on the rant. So in a nutshell pregnant Mexican teens forced your fair city to install parking meters? My fair city installed them because it was politically easier than raising property taxes. Greedy old people hate property taxes but want public services.

$0 to park at my house or park in my city's downtown area.

At work I pay $114/year to park. Which means I have to walk about 1/4 mile to get into work.

Our other parking options pay $106/year and park 2 miles away and ride a bus in.
Pay $680/year and be able to park in the attached structure.
Last pay $1500/year and be able to park literally next to the front door.

Garages/lots around in Omaha range from $20 a month to $85. I pay about $20 - $23 a month ($1.50 / day) because I work an internship three days a week while I'm in school and walk a few blocks (four or five).

$0.

I have a parking pad and a 1-car garage at home, and I work in the suburbs at a place with a private lot.

Only time I ever pay for parking is if I go downtown to Chicago. Usually I pay $1 or $2 to park at the train station, or, if I drive into the city, then it's rape, like $10-20.

I pay nothing. Got a parking space right outside my door to my apt and even though I could drive and park on campus for free (included in my student fees I guess) I don't. Thankfully my apt complex is literally across the street from campus and it takes me 10 or so minutes to walk to nearly any class. For some reason people still drive it, even though parking is in shortage here and not really convenient for 80% of the buildings here.

Other than my mortgage, I do not pay to park in my driveway.

My work provides parking in the underground parking structure.

I get reimbursed for any parking fees (and milage) I incur for work.

So, all in all, generally $0.

I regularly have to pay $20-$30 to park downtown. I am glad I get reimbursed.

fucking $400 a month, and its 4 blocks from my apt, and I have to call 30 mins in advance to get my car out.

fuck nyc.

Before going to Europe on business, a man drives his Rolls-Royce to a downtown New York City bank and asks for an immediate loan of $5,000. The loan officer, taken aback, requests collateral.

"Well then, here are the keys to my Rolls-Royce," the man says. The loan officer promptly has the car driven into the bank's underground parking for safe keeping and gives the man the $5,000.

Two weeks later, the man walks through the bank's doors and asks to settle up his loan and get his car back. "That will be $5,000 in principal, and $15.40 in interest," the loan officer says. The man writes out a check and starts to walk away.

"Wait, sir," the loan officer says. "You are a millionaire. Why in the world would you need to borrow $5,000?" The man smiles,

"Where else could I find a safer place to park my Rolls-Royce in Manhattan for two weeks and pay only $15.40?"

I love that joke.

Graduated from UCLA in 2009, paid $540 for the year. Got out right before the budget went to hell. To compensate for the deficit and loss in state funding, they just raised the fees and parking to insane numbers while cutting back on class requirements (no more second writing 2 required) and facility hours (there was no night powell for a while).

My freshman year, a daily pass was $7. Now it's $11. Freshman year, fees for the year ran ~$8k... now it's $11k.

I think they also need to raise money for all the dorms they're building (de neve G and H) + the expensive renovation of pauley pavilion.

I got out before the budget went to true hell. I paid under $4k/year in fees when I got out in 2003. Daily parking was $6 back then.

NO MORE WRITING 2?!?! Crazy. I went to a JC to fulfill that requirement.

Dorms/housing are a separate entity from the university. They're supposed to be self-funding.

As for Pauley... if it weren't for some people who are absolutely beholden to the old building, I actually kinda wish they tore it down and started over instead of renovating. They might have finished faster than this two tier construction project. Plus the cost (Oregon built their new arena for $200ish million, the renovation is $160ish million) I thought would have been worth it for a new arena.
