Besides being tacky, what is the problem?

They are most likely anodized which won't interfere with anything.

But, the pics suck and my work monitor sucks even more so maybe you guys see something I don't?

Or is it just that they won't last that way for long? Or if it actually is paint then yeah that is dumb.

I think you mean oxidized not anodized.

Anodizing is a method to harden aluminum usually for the purpose of making it stay shiny.

Anodizing aluminum is one form of oxidizing aluminum. The anodic oxidation yields a harder film (compared to aluminum with only its natural passivation native oxide film). They also increase corrosion resistance. Further, the anodic oxidation is very amenable to retaining dyes, thus this is one of the more effective ways of granting aluminum colors while making it more corrosion resistant and harder.

I realize that. I worked at a place that did it. I wouldn't have thought rotors which are made from steel would ever be anodized.

EDIT: my first job as a die maker was at Fisher Body Fort Street in Detroit. We made all the chrome parts for cars back when cars had metal that was chrome not shiny plastic. The reason the place shut down was because the federal govt. started imposing a daily fine because our anodizing tanks contributed to acid rain. Canada was putting a ton of pressure on the US to solve the acid rain crisis. So, they closed us down and moved the operation to Canada.

Serious braking makes your brakes look like they have red pain on them?

Apparently my sarcasm meter fails today - my bad.

I would email the guy and ask him if you can take it for a test drive. Then, when you get back and all the red paint is missing from the rotor, give him a shocked look, tell him the "brakes" must be defective, and refuse to buy the car.

ah, so the black in cookware is just a dye... just read the wiki.
Anodized aluminum looks similar to aluminum, but "grayer". You can, however, dye the aluminum.

Black cookware is either enameled, coated with PTFE, or is seasoned cast iron. Very rarely will you see black-dyed anodized.

I fail at colour ... I looked at them and they look like faded black to me. These are Calphalon Commercial. There is definitely no Teflon on them since everything stick to them

I thought that was teflon...

That's probably because you were talking about PTFE coated cookware. I wasn't talking about those

He got back to my question with :

i had it done but yea the was painted red just for show.....

I then asked him if he's driven it at all since they were painted. I wonder what he'll say since I can't possibly see how this car would stop from anything other than a 5 mph roll without peeling that paint right off
