They are most likely anodized which won't interfere with anything.
But, the pics suck and my work monitor sucks even more so maybe you guys see something I don't?

Yeah, that's the problem. It will make a big mess and you'll smell burning paint. Not to mention the fact that the paint might foul the calipers.
