How often do you cook vs get takeout?

Do what i do: I usually cook 4-5 portions on Sunday and freeze 2-3 for later. So I can still minimize effort by cooking larger amounts without eating the same thing for days.

I almost always buy lunch either at caffeteria or take-out when I'm at work, and probably 1-2 a week for dinner too. I actually like to cook, but I hate cleaning up after it...
And there are many other things that I like to do too. And TBH, I don't think I'm saving all that much money because I don't really buy bulk for mostly just myself.

I cook twice a week. I usually get 4 meals of each. I can then at least alternate between two different meals throughout the week.

We cook Sunday - Thursday, and eat out Friday and Saturday. Never take out, unless it is pizza.

This week's menu is steak and sausage, rigatoni, beef fajita tacos, leftovers, and crispy chicken wraps. Each are served with either beans or a vegetable.

People who live with their parents and people with children please leave this thread. I am interested in people who are independent (i.e. 21-40) who do not have children.

It seems that a lot of people I know (roommates, coworkers, etc but oddly not my friends) get takeout/delivery nearly every day for dinner. My current roommate gets it 6 days a week.

I think that is unhealthy and disgusting. Why do people not cook more? It's not just a cheap-person thing -- after a long day at work, I find it relaxing to make a nice steak with some good vegetables and sides.

I generally cook for myself 5-6 days a week and then on Fridays/Saturdays I get takeout or go out to eat.

How does age speak of independence? My wife and I live in our own home, have no children, but we are not 21-40. Does that make us dependent, or are we just independent beyond your recognition/acceptance?

Currently, we eat out 90% of the time, 8% take out, and 2% make a meal at home.

My wife and I eat out about once per week. Particularly busy weeks for me (usually finals) will typically add a JimmyJohns delivery on top of our regular dinner date. I would eat out more, but a lot of what is out there isn't very good for you, nor cheap.

Once, maybe twice a week. I find I am cooking more and more at home since I've moved in to my own place, though. It tastes better, and I can do it in my underwear!

We cook better than most restaurants can cook, and much healthier as well, so it is a no-brainer for us. Most restaurant food is mediocre at best.

I do volunteer work for the local cable station once a week so we get pizza bought for us. Other than that, I or someone in my family cooks. It's healthier and cheaper. Once you factor in tip, dinner at a chain restaurant is pushing $50 for two people these days. That's without buying booze.
