I dont get nightmares, all my dreams are more fun or action packed than scary. Ive only ever had one real scary nightmare when i was a kid and it had somthing to do with a white box of ice cream... i dunno... strange.

The last dream i had was the same setting to a previous dream, my hometown but there was a massive theme park there, the previous dream took place during the day in that theme park, now it was just there for continuity i suppose. It was night time, me and a russian chick were stealing somthing important out of a multi-story betting office but we got chased by a really fat guard and i fell off the pier whilest running away and then woke up. Fun dream. I always wake up when i fall or die in dreams, sucks.

Zysoclaplem your dream sounds friggin creepy lol. Was the it the same person you were chasing that whispered to you?

I thought it was, but it wasn't. I don't know who it was but I heard them clearly whisper certain words. It felt very real. Stuff like that happens to me a lot. From what I have read I was having a hypnagogic hallucination.

Pretty much never, I guess I have dreams that others might consider a nightmare but it doesn't bother or scare me in the slightest.

But then again scary/gory/horror movies don't bother me either.

I used to have nightmares at least a few times per week... but I've found that there are certain things (thoughts) that trigger it. If, during the day, I think about certain "scary" things, then I'm guaranteed to have a nightmare that night; if I force myself to think about something else, instead, I'll be ok, and won't have a nightmare. heh... my nightmares are so intense that I'd rather never sleep again than ever have another nightmare.

I used to have them when I was younger, but I don't anymore. The closest I would get to a nightmare is falling in my dream, but that doesn't work because I'll just start flying.

I used to have a reoccuring nightmare with different settings but with the same outcome.. haven't had it in a year or so now and I rarely dream otherwise (that I can remember).

I have bad dreams several times per week, i think that is a lot because i remember most of the dreams i have each night.
Sometimes they are so upsetting i feel crappy/bad the rest of the day. Also, i know in my bad dreams that i try to scream and i am really loud in real life, but in the dream, no sound comes out.

It depends what is on my mind when I am going to bed. If I am upset about something in reality it is likely that I will have a dream about that.

you dream every night, but you don't remember your dreams. everyone goes through REM sleep (dreaming) several times every night.

meh, you knew what i meant.

Rarely that I can remember anyway.

Try not drinking any alcohol before you go to bed. I find that I sleep much better when I have no alcohol or just one glass of wine that day. One or two martinis and I don't sleep nearly as well.

I only have nightmares if I'm too hot, too cold (rarer since I can't fall asleep when I'm too cold, so this only happens if the room temperature drops overnight), or I took something weird like cold medicine

So far this week I have dreamed about:

[*]Nuclear War
[*]Zombie attack
[*]Abducted by aliens

In other words, my nightmares are like living Scifi Original Movies, cept with better acting and scarier beings.

They are not 'scary' but they feel pretty disturbing while I'm going through them and I feel weird for a half-hour after I wake up. Oddly, my life is pretty happy and decent with no violence, medical conditions or anything so I don't know where these nightmares come from.

It DOES affect my life a little - the high-speed fatal car crash dream recurs enough for me to always drive extra-cautiously.

Does anyone find strange incongruities between what's expressed here and the implications of the poster's nickname?

my 1 year old son had his first nightmare last night. It was both comic and tragic at the same time.

I have the same nightmare over and over.

I dream that Meg Ryan and my wife are fighting over me and my wife is winning.

I have the same type dreams, just add tornadoes to the mix. But those aren't my nightmares. My nightmares involve psychologic mood type changes.
Like I could be having a great dream, and suddenly the sky turns black and I feel a horrible presence of evil. Everything changes. I feel myself being sucked deeper into the dream. I try to fight my way out of it. I can't. Everything turns black.
I do have scary dreams about tornadoes a lot, but I don't wake up afraid in those dreams.
Certain dreams tend to stay with you.
