I loved that game when I was a kid. When I was growing up my parents would take us to Chuck E Cheese or maybe it was ShowBiz but anyway they would take us their every time report cards came out.This weekend I played all the way through the X-Men arcade game with a kid that's nearly five years old. Good thing for free play, probably would have been ten bucks in quarters for the kid

We did have fun, then switched to my other cabinet and played Bubble Bobble II for a while 😁I loved that game when I was a kid. I remember waiting in the car with my mom while my dad went into the store to buy their first CD player, back when it was a brand new format. They were broke-ass nerd musicians so this was, like, a BIG deal and they were psyched. Probably why I remember it because I would only have been 3 or 4.I remember when my dad brought a PORTABLE CD player back from TDY. It was the size of a fairly hefty hardback book.
I remember watching an episode of What Will They Think of Next! on Nickelodeon (originally Science International on the CBC) where they discussed the development of CDs. At that time, CDs were planned to have plastic jackets to make them near indestructible. They even showed a dog carrying a CD around the house. I guess the developers later decided that the protection wasn't worth spinning the added weight.I remember waiting in the car with my mom while my dad went into the store to buy their first CD player, back when it was a brand new format. We did get a Pioneer shelf unit fairly early on too, 1984 I think, one with a 6 disc magazine. It was still mostly working when I graduated high school, since it was flaky it had migrated to my bedroom after being replaced in the main stereo cabinet. Sometimes when it went to change a disc in the magazine, it would get stuck and needed a little percussive maintenance to unstick it.I remember waiting in the car with my mom while my dad went into the store to buy their first CD player, back when it was a brand new format. I had one of those. I think I got in 86. They were a cool idea that was a hassle in practice. Mine worked well until it didn't, but carts cost as much as a cd, so they were only good for modest collections. Otherwise, you'd go broke buying carts for all your discs, or go through the hassle of swapping them around. I ended up getting a single disk adapter for it, and used that more times than not. I'm jealous as hell...and apparently quite a bit younger than you. The first "real" concert I went to was the Liverpool 5 in...1965. (?) Over the years, I saw the Moody Blues a couple of times, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention twice , Jethro Tull numerous times, the Eagles, Three Dog Night, Jefferson Airplane, Credence Clearwater Revival, Ringo Starr, Jimi Hendrix three times, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap, Paul Revere and the Raiders a couple of times, the Monkees...Chicago Transit Authority, Heart, Fleetwood Mac, Black Sabbath, plus some country music...Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels, Juice Newton...plus there were a few rock festivals in the PNW where I saw a lot of bands...some famous, some local...don't remember who all was playing at all of them...must have been something in the air that affected my memory. I actually have another one now, in one of those bookshelf units that were all the rage in the 90s, got it at a thrift store some time in the last year. A bunch of the smaller bands coming through town sell tapes for $5, so now I have something I can play those on. Glad it turns out to be a nicer one, has high speed tape dubbing, so I can make a batch of tapes for my band to sell too.I had one of those. I think I got in 86.
