Actually I give props to those that are living at home helping their parents with their mortgage payments, so it really depends on the situation.

I know a lot of college grads who live in California/NY and live with their families. It's the smartest way to go in order to save, and they range in age from 22-27. One just saved up enough for his own condo and will be moving out soon.

Heck, if my parents lived in CA I'd love to live at home. Free meals and no bills to pay, plus I'd be able to save $1600+ extra per month. *sigh*

I don't know how anyone in their twenties can live with their parents and enjoy a youthful life.

Good point

Is that what you're doing for your parents? If so, good for you!

In all seriousness. The longer you live at home, the better. Just horde your money as along as you can.

For what? To spend it on boring consumer electronics? Fvck that. Move out and get a life. Meet people. Expand your horizons.

I'm 25, and living at home.

BUT, I'm NOT a loser! I work close to home, and am saving up like krazy! Annnnnny day now, I want to move to Atlanta. Just waiting for the right oppurtunity.

So I guess it all depends on circumstances.

And NO, I'm not one of those pathetic fools not doing anything with their lives living in the basement! It would just be a waste to pay for housing right now, cuz I AM saving up to be a homeowner as soon as I get out. (Condo). And then I start grad. school!

at least after graduating from undergrad, as that should give you the ability to find a job and sustain yourself... so I would say 23.

I am 23 and live at home. But I am getting married. So I am going to be moving in with my fiancee soon.

not sure, sometimes i feel too old to be at home, but sometimes i realize how much i like it here, and since i am an only child, i am close with my parents.

I'll probably move out within 2 years provided I end up making what I need to make.

up until whenever you can afford your own house. So shortly after graduating college and a couple years settled with a job. I'd cut it off at 30 the latest.

i totally agree, if the 'living at home WITH the parents' suggest the parents are the homeowners, the parents can take care of themselves (lift a bag of groceries to the kitchen, program the thermostat, handle a utility bill descrepancy), financially and healthwise...

If the scenario is not this, then some of us would be living 'at home with the parents' but it's not really the parents taking care of you, and you 'saving' wads of cash....

It's more like the folks live WITH YOU... and you got two kids already without adopting or conceiving.

Worse yet, try if your a single guy, having to explain this to a girl.

I am 23 and I live with my parents. I don't plan on moving out until I graduate (april) and I have found a real fulltime job, get a handle on my student loans and most likely get married. I am guessing I will be out by the time I am 25.

the american way is either:
- parents kick them out
- kids want their freedom

Either way, those are . I agree with your thought process. I did so at 25.
