"We got hit in the driver's side by a loaded log truck doing 60. My mom had 5 holes in her lungs, 11 strokes, all ribs broken, her teeth broken and stuck in her throat, and most of her extremities broken. I wasn't wearing a seatbelt. It broke my arm and bent my hip."
It is one of my biggest fears in life: To become handicapped to that extent. . . . I would always pray and beg for relief . . . from the suffering.
I was 20 at the time. Traffic was crawling. We were about to exit to our usual route when a big pick-up truck just went *bam!* At first, I thought it was the driver just being silly. (We were in the middle of a conversation when that happened.) I said, "Stop jerking the car; my head is hurting!" She's all, "It's not me!" Then I realised what had happened. I was surprised that the SUV wasn't that strong to withstand the hits. The entire rear window was shattered, as as well as some metallic parts. There was a third car involved. The car in front of us was a sports car, so the effect impacted upon it was worse than upon us. The driver (a lady) rushed out of the car. At the end, everyone was safe. I had a pounding headache, but I recovered early! I was glad to be alive and well, with all of my body parts intact. I had a premonition . . . an intuition that something would happen that day. I kept warning the driver to be careful 'cuz I was afraid we would get into an accident [on that day]. I was glad that the driver was not at fault, in spite of the fact that an accident did occur. I'm thankful everyday that it wasn't worse.
