I mowed lawns in my neighborhood for $10-20 when I was 12-15. Then I got a job at Hallmark at 16 (working with girls only was an experience), I also helped a teacher out cleaning overhead plastic sheets for use for $5 each week. 16-18 picked up 2 other jobs, one at a PT Clinic (did the billing and a little minor help with PT stuff), the other at a Biochem Lab (product checking, then steralizing, then lab, then office work). In college I did odd jobs (like I did before 16) when I could but mostly did school, and during the summers would go back to the Biochem lab and PT Clinic. Later on I took a job at the College Cafeteria (but it was too early and with my workload my grades started to drop drastically). Then I took an internship at a small niche software company. The year after I worked in the manufacturing/hardware for Dell. Now I work as a programmer.

1997 first job programming, and operating a jumbotron with different graphics for highschool football games (5 teams shared one huge stadium so there was always at least 3 games a week, made $24 a game)...get there 1 hr. before game and do necesary announcements, then stay for game and actually run the jumbotron, sometimes i would do the 45 second clock on nights where i trained someone to run the thing. fun times (i was a Junior in high school so got to do this for 2 football seasons)

whenever my team would play i would add special messages, and i got caught once .......nothing happened other than they told me not to do it again.....also one time during the playoffs our team was loosing, and the refs made an awful call against us, and i just ran the words "BUMMER" over and over (like 30 sec in a slot machine fashion) the head of athletics for the district ran into the newsroom and yelled at me telling me that was negative and should not be on EVER again....he was an intimidating man, and everybody liked when i ran "bummer", but never again.

perks where:::::
1. air conditioning inside newsroom. (usual temp around game time was 90deg)
2. catered every time, plenty of food all the time. (good food during playoffs)
3. everybody being jealous of me being in a/c.
4. mosquitos had no effect where i was sitting.
5. i love football......

edit:45 sec or so clock i originally put 25 lol...that would be one fast game. hehe.

I bought and sold rare coins from the time I was 9. I made all of my spending cash in high school that way. At one point, I averaged 150$ a week for about 10 hours work.

I'm still working at my first real job: Carnegie Science Center -- $7.31 / hr, ~ 25 hours a week. It sucks, but it's easy.

But I started another job in addition to the CSC last March. It's a networking business that does a lot of IT for different companies and organizations around Pittsburgh. I get $15 / hr for 90% sitting at my desk in my house and 10% on site maintenance. Between 15-20 hours a week for that. Needless to say, that's all college money heh.

10 years old (could have been as early as 8, but not sure)

Cleaned carpets, did maid-service, and helped paint vacant apartments ("turn-key" service for those that have done that kind of work).

Wage paid: $0

Step-dad sure did love to break child labor laws when it came to my bro and I. Oh and we were lucky if we got to stop and eat lunch.

Good news is that after having done all that work, a job that actually paid me didn't seem that bad or nearly as hard

I had just turned 18 and I started out at $13.31/hour, only lasted about a year though. That was two years ago. My official title was administrative intern, but I mostly was a receptionist and I did whatever they told me to.

Delivering newspapers @ 12. Not sure about hourly rate, but I raked in about $400 a month. This is back in '96?

I worked about an hour and half a day, and I loved the money.

I made 50 cents an hour for 8 hours a day helping a handy man during the summer months of the early 70's. The first real job I had was at minimum wage, also in the 70's at $2.30 an hour. I was a janitor at the middle school.

1990, I was 9 and made $5-$10 for mowing lawns. My first real job was in '95 when I was 14, I got paid $10/hr to shrink wrap product at a small software shop. I also addressed and stamped our marketing mailings. I got my first taste of the real world in '97 getting paid $7.50/hr at Boston market with a raise to $8/hr after 2 months.

When I was 15 I fed dogs and cleaned kennels for a Rottweiler breeder. Fed in the morning before school and fed/cleaned after school. They paid me $45 per month. It was 1988.
