1997 first job programming, and operating a jumbotron with different graphics for highschool football games (5 teams shared one huge stadium so there was always at least 3 games a week, made $24 a game)...get there 1 hr. before game and do necesary announcements, then stay for game and actually run the jumbotron, sometimes i would do the 45 second clock on nights where i trained someone to run the thing. fun times (i was a Junior in high school so got to do this for 2 football seasons)
whenever my team would play i would add special messages, and i got caught once .......nothing happened other than they told me not to do it again.....also one time during the playoffs our team was loosing, and the refs made an awful call against us, and i just ran the words "BUMMER" over and over (like 30 sec in a slot machine fashion) the head of athletics for the district ran into the newsroom and yelled at me telling me that was negative and should not be on EVER again....he was an intimidating man, and everybody liked when i ran "bummer", but never again.
perks where:::::
1. air conditioning inside newsroom. (usual temp around game time was 90deg)
2. catered every time, plenty of food all the time. (good food during playoffs)
3. everybody being jealous of me being in a/c.
4. mosquitos had no effect where i was sitting.
5. i love football......
edit:45 sec or so clock i originally put 25 lol...that would be one fast game. hehe.
