The console games are crap.
Only ones worth playing are on portable systems. Though the Switch being semi-portable may change that.
Doesn’t matter how powerful as long as it runs Pokémon.
Only reason to buy ninetendo is Pokémon. Pokémon makes everything better worth it.
The Switch is a decent amount slower but the games like Mario Odyssey run fine because they are smaller games with not a ton going on everywhere and low resolution. Zelda runs like crap on the Switch with tons of pop in. I love those two games but there's a reason why Fifa is a custom game engine on the Switch and Doom is a very low quality version.It comes in at a full teraflop of power, where the Xbone is at like 1.6 I think. The Wii U was more powerful than the 360 and PS3 and the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U. Considering how impressive Mario Odyssey looks in a constant 60fps, I think the Switch is just barely in the same league as the Xbone and PS4. (At the bottom) To play console games with lower AA or 720p resolution instead of 1080p resolution is a fair compromise to be able to play them on the go in my opinion. With that said, I wish Nintendo had gone with the latest Tegra processor. If they took a small loss on the hardware with it, they sure as hell would have made it back on the boat load of overpriced accessories.
Thats the thing I though, Nintendo markets it as a home console you can take on the go, not a handheld console you can plug into a your TV.Actually it's more of handheld console than full featured home console, so you should not compare it to PS4/Xbox One, and yes, it's less powerful

Regardless of how powerful it is, I've played my Switch a shitload more than my Xbox One, and now I have an X and I've only played Cuphead for like 90 minutes total on it maybe.
As has always been the case, comparing specs/power between consoles and shit is pointless. It's all about the games you want to play and only you. Don't let others try and sway you to get a console that has no games on it you want to play (not saying anyone is doing this, I mean in general)
Plus where else you gonna play Zelda, Mario, or Metroid? On your PS4 of X1? PC?
I hate that they announced metro so early when it's still a couple years out. I mean, they did it to make us happy but the wait sucks.
God Nintendo has been killing it. And to think we still have Metroid Prime 4 and Smash Bros down the pipe.
We still have Kirby and Yoshi in 2018 and at some point we'll probably get a new Pikmin and a proper Switch Mario Kart. The Switch has the potential to be a top 3 all time Nintendo console, still has a LONG way to go but there is potential after a fantastic Zelda game and an argument can be made that Odyssey is the best 3d Mario game. I know, I just want a new Super Metroid or SotN game for the Switch as it would be perfect on the format. Prime is great and all but it's not Super Metroid and since we seem to be getting a Metroid game it may as well be a Castlevania game in that style. While I'm at it I'd also like a FF4/6/Chrono Trigger game as well... Basically give me new games in a similar play style as the great snes games.Konami only makes mobile games now. They have pachinko simulators using metal gear solid themes for an example.
There's already a bunch of metroidvania games out in the indie store with some more in the works.

While there are plenty of them available on other platforms, most being terrible, there's only a handful available on the Switch. As for the Switch it's basically Axiom Verge, Hollow Knight and Cave Story+ and only Axiom Verge really scratches that Metroid itch. Looking beyond the switch you can find a few more like Salt & Sanctuary or Ori but since this is a Switch thread...I got no clue just google em.
