How remove XP from dual boot 98/XP? Need to reinstall.

Screwed up the drive letter assignments and now I want to reinstall XP in a 98/XP dual boot machine. How do I completely remove XP and its boot manager? Basically I want the machine to go back to a 98 only machine on the C:, then I'll reinstall XP from within 98 again. Thanks!

Why Dont you just clean install XP?
And easiest way , it would be to format

Cause I need to keep 98 around.

you can format the XP partition & then bootup with a win98 startup floppy & use the fdisk /mbr command.
that should get you bak to just having win98 on your hdd!

Okay here's what I ended up doing, booting from my Win98 start up disk then typed sys c:
That got rid of the boot screen and I went straight to 98. Then I deleted the boot.ini and nt? files in my C: that XP added, then deleted the partition XP was on. Reinstalled, this time created the partitions with Partition Magic and everything worked fine.

Basically this is what I did. Parition a C: to install Win98 to, left the rest of the hard drive unpartitioned. Setup Win98, it labeled my cdrom D: and cd writer E:. Then I installed XP from within 98, from that installed I was able to choose the unpartitioned space to install to, choose the size and file system, and then installed to it. Only problem was it labeled it F:. It worked just fine but I'm pretty anal, I just find it real annoying to see my drives listed in a weird order like that (I like the cdrom/writers at the bottom of the list).
