What an eye opener.

Total Crime Index: 367
Personal Crime Index: 289
Property Crime Index: 215

And thats just IN my house! :Q

-------------------------------------

In the United States.........a house is broken into every 32 seconds.

If I lived in that house, I'd move out fast!

Cheers..........

Total Crime Index: 156
Personal Crime Index: 217
Property Crime Index: 124
Culture Index: 145 (98.13 national average)

That's in Minneapolis, MN, 55403.

I don't consider it too bad, though I know a few people who are wussies and think my hood looks scary.

A few blocks over, in 55404 (the wrong side of 35W, so to speak), they've got it a lot worse:

Total Crime Index: 228
Personal Crime Index: 317
Property Crime Index: 181

There's a lot of drug activity over there. The crack heads are usually out until 4 or 5 AM when I drive through to take a look around for the hell of it.

Total Crime Index is 99 here in San Diego, but it's 155 up in Los Angeles where I go to school.

That's the population in the zip code you entered. Try entering a zip code adjacent to yours. It will give a different population count.

EDIT: Or type in your city name (and no zip code). It will give the population (and all the other stats) for the entire city.

I thought my city should have a higher crime rate, but I was disappointed Several of my neighbors are gangs and former gangs, surprisingly they're protective of their neighborhood lol, but there are gunfires every now and then.

Ha.....I win.

Total Crime..327
Personal....430

This is the city of St Louis. Certain areas of the city are even more dangerous. The reasons for the high numbers are racial in nature. You can figure out who is at fault. One ethnic group (nameless) is responsible for over 90% of the murders....even though that group is only about 50% of the population.

Come visit here, but bring your UZI. A recent visitor from Indiana arived late at night, made a few wrong turns, got murdered for the wheels on his van. And people wonder why I conceal and carry, why there are bars on my doors and windows, why a .357 is on the night-stand, etc.

Don't go into the city at all without someone who knows the areas to avoid. Have a nice day.

Why do I stay here?......Paid-for house, good memories of the old days, too stubborn to be driven away by the criminals with their drugs, guns, welfare checks in hand.

According to the glossary the total crime index is:

This index represents the risk of having a crime committed against your body or property. The national average has been set to equal 100. A score of 50 indicates that you are half as likely have a crime committed against you will a score of 200 indicates that you are at twice the risk. The index is calculated from a weighted and trended compilation of FBI and local reporting jurisdictions.

I see that but I find it strange that it says county elsewhere. Since there is not a consistent standard for reporting it is still not reliable even if it is a national average IMO but it's interesting. For example, Compton, CA is half the value of Honolulu, HI ???
And the place I used to live where we would find bodies in the alley and there were drug deals on the sidewalk in front of the house every day is only 33 points above national average? At least for the places I've been I'd say these numbers are way off.

edit: the eye rolling is not at you but the rankings

I hate to make a joke out of this, but it reminds me of "National Lampoons Vacation" when they wind up in the ghetto

Yeah cause you live in Alberta. You wouldn't be saying that in Halifax

Bah, Halifax is a paltry 81 on the crime index, different one that works for both Canada and the US though.
index

204 for Regina, though I live in north central far worse than the city average.

And for the St Louis guy you score an impressive 504 on this crime index.
